Many years ago I went for colour and style analysis with a friend. It really opened my eyes to the immense difference the right colour and style makes. I recently got all the info out to look at because I have totally lost my way with what to wear, hence joining gransnet for help and advice. I think if you take one of each style jean into the changing room you will get an idea of what really suits your shape and makes you feel fabulous. smile

I have a good pair of M&S relaxed slim denim jeans
They are just short of the ankle with a small turn up. Love them .

I'm no expert, but did work out that high risers are good, in that they come up to your (my) waist.

Anything else can stop half way up, or cut your "bits" in half.

I had the same problem as you. I really got tired of looking for a suitable jeans model and decided to sew myself. It took some time to find a good sewing pattern. They have good ones in Fabrico Design. There are different styles and a large size grid. I hope you`ll find something there!

I like jeans with straight legs and pull on waist as I don't like buttons or zips on my tummy, My preference though in mixed weather are leggings - even more comfortable

Thanks for all your useful tips.

I wear high waist, straight leg jeans. I used to like fitted skinny styles but arthritic swollen knees put an end to those. The last pair I bought came from Cotton Traders and I have a white pair bought from Damart.

I admit I prefer chinos to jeans these days, they seem more comfortable especially those with a bit of stretch and I can choose a colour other than denim blue or black. I can’t cope with skinny or narrow legged, they’re a nightmare to get on and off with my stiff joints.

I have to confess that recently I was so unimpressed with women’s trousers that I tried on a pair of men’s chinos which fitted like a dream and seemed better quality (I’m also buying men’s tshirts for the same reasons).

M&S do a slim leg, which is what I bought recently. Not tight like a skinny, not as wide as the straight leg.

Sorry but I wouldn't pay £99 for jeans.

I'm om the lookout as well. For summer I like a lighter colour, with the hem above the ankle so show off sandals and a nice pedicure. Loose enough to be comfy for travel.

How about something like this:

Of course the model is tall, and it is best to go in and try on jeans if you have a store near you.

It really depends on what suits you Tanith You need to try different styles on and decide on what you feel most comfortable in.

i would wear wide leg but not in denim so much for summer (if we get any) I ve got some nice bootleg ones from M & S

I used to wear skinny but now wear straight leg. You need to spend some time in the changing rooms trying on all the different styles ,even ones you have not tried before, not forgetting to wear the type of footwear you will be wearing with them.

Just saw some beautiful wide leg ones in Per Una range. I was very, very tempted.

The chinos in M&S are very good this year, straight leg but not too skinny, and a good choice of colours and leg lengths (try them on though, because weirdly the legs are different in different colours, I got two pairs and I had to buy long in one colour, regular in the other).

Just that really, I want some new jeans for holiday but there are so many styles now I’ve no clue which I should try. I have some Mom, skinny and jegging styles but I’d like a nice fitted style not too skinny but not as wide as the Mom style. I’m only 5’3” but petite sometimes are a bit short.
So help me what style should I try I like Next for their variety but open to suggestions but affordable please.
What do you wear?
