Do we really dress to please ourselves?

I do notice and do complement my wife often, only once has she got it wrong, it was a ladies garden party on a boiling hot day, I suggested a summer dress would be better than jeans, so she changed. I do ask her what she would prefer me to wear, other wise I match her choice.

I always put my partners clothes out ( unless it’s a suit).
He always says to me ^thats what I’m wearing then, is it^😂
Both him and my daughter say I have a look if they’ve got it wrong.
I swear I don’t do it intentionally.

DH has got better but the other week he said he was ready to go out but was wearing a short-sleeved check shirt, clashing trousers and shoes which matched neither.

I did say "Surely you're not going out like that?" but he said he thought they went well together.

He did go and change but muttered a lot.

My OH loves clothes,he has a wardrobe full of designer suits that have hardly been worn since he retired 2 years ago…but will he part with them?No way just in case he needs them. He,ll happily wander round shops picking up things he thinks are “just me”.He has more Italian shoes than I can count.Shame that he,s living in jeans nowadays ,he does look gorgeous in a nice suit

I must read that again, a short but lovely book.

I won it at school, end of year prize 🙂

Jane Austen got there first. I quote from 'Northanger Abbey'

Woman is fine for her own satisfaction alone. No man will admire her the more, no woman will like her the better for it. Neatness and fashion are enough for the former, and a something of shabbiness or impropriety will be most endearing to the latter

MaryDoll that made me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

Our friends and relatives always remark that DH only wears matching socks because I pair them up after washing.

When I give him the Paddington Bear hard stare he asks what am I wearing that’s wrong ?

If I make an effort when we're going out, DH always says "Oh! You look nice!" in a surprised tone, as if I never normally do

🤔

I dress to please myself. If I wore a bin bag, my husband wouldn't notice he has absolutely no taste, apart from marrying me.. 🤣

Are we married to the same man 🤣🤣🤣

We are twins, who must have married twin brothers, separated at birth! 🤣🤣🤣

When we were first married, I used to lay out his office clothes, he could not be truster.
He was infamous among his staff, for wearing a woolly zipper under his sharp suit! 😉

I discovered, on a hosiery website, that I am a “dopamine dresser”
So I suppose I dress to please myself!

I dress to please myself, but because I feel happy and confiedent when I do that people will react to me in a positive way.

I was dressed last night to go out with DH (Anniversary) just before taxi arrived I ran upstairs changed my dress and wrap.

Did DH notice of course not 🤣🤣🤣

Until an hour or ago I'd have said Yes, and my DH is like the man in a Wendy Cope poem who says that any outfit is fine if saying it isn't means looking at 4 others.

But we're off on holiday on Monday so I'm wearing old clothes while better ones are packed. 'That's a very nice skirt,' says DH of an old denim number, 'are you taking it on holiday?' Old denim skirt now in washing machine, nice new jeans removed from case... Then considering tops to wear in the evening I spotted a ten-year-old cream and navy one that DH always liked and put it in at the expense of a much newer one that I consider more flattering. Sentimental? Moi?
