I need a new skirt

I recently ordered this one. It fits well (true to size) good length and is very flattering as it skims the hips.

I'm a fan of Joe Brown's. I'd have so loved this shop had it been around in my youth.

But there's plenty of choice, flattering styles and just beautiful outfits that suit the more mature lady!

I have just bought a fake suede one from M&S, dark brown,A line shape, length to just below mid-calf, it may need shortening.

The zip is on the side but it doesn't stick out at all.

I've never been comfortable in a skirt. I'm the wrong shape and hate tights and smart shoes. Trousers every time!

There are lots of skirts around at the moment, almost every store on the High Street and online have a variety of styles, lengths and fabrics.

If was you I would spend some time online find a style you like then either order or find a store near you, have a click and collect delivered to the store of various skirts, try them on in store, then either keep or return on the spot.

Maybe Marks & Spencers might have something - and one can buy online. They "lost their way" for a while with the styles available - but seem to have got back on track more recently. Just the quality is "modern day quality" still - rather than the normal quality it used to be years back - and so one has to watch out on that angle (some things are okay quality, some "chinese" quality).

Wishes they'd put the prices back up again - to the equivalent of what they used to charge - and also put the quality of all the stuff back to normal too. But it's always "worth a peep".

I was just thinking the same, if M &S put prices up a bit and increased the quality I would be happier.Shopping with Mum yesterday she bought a pack of three vest tops, very pretty but so thin you can see through them.A pack of three costs £10.
If it was £20 but slightly better quality it would be much better.

Juno. I looked at this skirt, online. It looked lovely so I have ordered it , I hope it’s as nice on , the flat waist bit looks flattering so I was tempted to buy it , it should be here by Easter and if this weather warms up I will wet it, Thankyou for the link.

That is a very nice skirt, I just find everything so long these days. I used to be 5’8” but am 5’5” now and dresses and skirts are way too long.

That's a beautiful skirt. I ordered a skirt size 12 from M&S, loved it, but too long and slightly big. Returned it and ordered size 10. Same problem, too long and slightly smaller, but still too big. Gave up.

Seasalt have some very good quality cotton things and in general have some good clothes worth looking at. However, I definitely want to handle and look at and try on garments before I buy, and do not want to wait in for delivery people and have to pay for two things and send one back etc. They state in their catalogues that they do up to size 26/28 and used to have a few of the bigger sizes in the shops, but that was ok. I have three pairs of their trousers all in different sizes, 20, 22, 24, as the various cuts and shapes of them and the actual material can make a difference.

However, much to the annoyance of their customers and their very good staff , they have decided to not send anything to the shops higher than I think 18/20. So you have to either have it home delivered and wait in and send stuff back, or delivered to the shop, where at least you can try it on and also make sure there is no fault with it as you open it. So if I now want to find a new outfit to sing in this weekend no chance!! I have emailed them about this and they have not e had the courtesy to answer, not even an acknowledgement. My local shop manager is very fed up as she has quite a number of regular customers who are now looking elsewhere and telling her how upset they are. I think the company are being very shortsighted but just wanted to warn people that what you see on line may not be actually available in the shop.

Agree about M&S quality. I bought a jumper late last year. Love it but it’s already starting to be threadbare.
What clothes to wear depends on body shape. I love flared skirts but look lost in them. I love seeing them on tall people.

I never get round wearing my skirts as then i have to wear tights and then can’t wear my comfy shoes. For some reason I don't like the look of lace ups or trainers with skirts and dresses.

David Nieper have some beautiful skirts. Fairly expensive, but their clothes are quality, made in England and will last for years.
