My new Merrell walking shoes have been delivered this morning and I love them. I suffer from drop foot due to a brain injury and Merrell are the only brand I have found that have enough flexibility to allow me to lift my toes and prevent my foot from dragging. They are expensive but I have managed to find a pair on EBay for £25, brand new and still in the box.

Ah! Yes Nike. They had a trainer called Wear All Days but sadly they are no longer making them.
They were like walking on a cloud, comfortable immediately, never cold, never sweaty, never got wet, work on my feet all day then walk to and from work. Just plain black but so very good, wore them 3 years.
Just wish they’d make some more🥲

I tried Skechers slip ons but they were so uncomfortable around the heel. Not for me. I do have a great pair of Skechers without the slip on.
My go to walking shoe will always be Nike. Have several pairs and only end up in the bin when the white ones turn grey.

You got a real bargain! I like Merrell boots and shoes but have a long narrow foot and so they are never quite the right fit for me. I currently have Salomon walking shoes and Berghaus boots, both excellent, but the best boots I ever owned were Meindl Lady Pro. Like wearing comfy slippers and never let me down on any terrain. Can’t afford them now, sadly.

I always buy Merrell walking shoes and they last for years and so comfortable never any blisters! £25 is a bargain well done. I like Sketchers for casual wear but not serious walking.

Thank you.

Did you get them in your shoe size or did you go one size up?

I got them in my normal shoe size and width, 3 M. They’re not the first pair of Merrells I have had so I knew they would fit.

I have learned so much from GN about different brands of choice that I had never heard heard of.

My walking sandals were 12.99 in Aldi. Bought recently. Super comfortable as their trainers and walking sandals are, Leather, good soles, fully adjustable. Nice colour.
They should last for years, the previous pairs did.

However £25 seems a bargain so well done for finding them.

Well done you! We all love a bargain!

I love my Merrells too! Had them for years: comfortable and secure. (I had them "fitted" in the shop.)

My daughter bought new walking sandals last week and they cost £100. They are Ecco and a pair lasts her about 2 years. I would wear them longer than that but as soon as the bottoms wear she buys new ones.

What on earth does she walk ON?

My ecco sandals and shoes, even the ones I walked camino de Santiago wearing, last for somewhere between five and ten years!

mabon1 Thu 26-Jun-25 14:13:31

Why doesnt she have them repaired?

Well done on your Ebay bargain. My Aku walking boots are wearing out and I dread having to replace them, they are so light and comfortable. I'll have a look at Merrell.

I always buy Merrell walking boots. I can wear them straight from the box with no blisters

My friend swears by that brand. She also got a bargain pair on Ebay. I haven't been lucky so far but I keep looking. So glad you've found a pair that suits you.

Well done! It’s Skechers all the way for me, lace up, slip ons, sandals and even boots!

Likewise- but I also love crocs- not the real thing, but the ones I buy abroad covered in flowers or butterflies.

My daughter bought Murrell walking boots when she did a very long trek, raising money for CoppaFeel, the breast cancer charity. She highly recommends them. Well done for getting yours at a bargain price, Blossoming.

That's a great bargain! I love my Merrells - so comfy, but I think I've had them for about 20 years now!
