what do you think of the hairstyles that we're seeing a lot of on the telly at the moment, the hair seems to be straight from the crown then half way down it's in a sort of ringlet. I always feel like taking a brush to it .
We all do the best we can with the hair we've got (or in my case had). Before I lost mine I used to look at people like Bill Bailey with a bald head and wispy bits at the back and criticise but now I understand. He was trying to hang on to what bit he had. Same with man buns. They are trying to follow fashion as we all did when young.
Well I am contrary to most then, I love to see a face, so it’s still a well cut pixie for me. I dont like many older ladies with longer hair unless it is really well cared for and away from their faces NOT tightly pulled back. Also rather like younger men with longer hair in man bun styles.
I think the worst look ever is a man bun! I loathe them and think they make men look right prats!
Apart from my teens I had a pixie all my life. Servalan and Annie Lennox anyone? I've been growing it out for 18 months now, fringe included and it's now similar to Blossoming. Not sure I'll keep it but I felt my pixie was making me look gaunt rather than gamine. I'd love curls. I had chemo for breast cancer 5 years ago and absolutely adored the temporary curls I got afterwards.
I have been fighting with my curly hair all my life. I'm letting it go a little bit now, curly on top and neat at the back and round the ears. Also having high lights put in and a lighter base.

Being a teenager in the Sixties meant long hair, much like the young girls of today. After a few decades of perms, I went back to shoulder length hair for many years but last Easter I had it cut into a bob which has been easier to maintain and admired by many.
My hairdresser cuts hair beautifully. I always have a fringe as I have a very high forehead. Most of my friends have very short hair (a la Judi Dench) but that’s not my thing. It’s a bob shape but sort of layered.
Grandmarderby10 That is exactly what I do! Find a new short sassy spiky style every few months. It’s amazing how much you can restyle short hair. My hairdresser is always accommodating, and good.
Many ordinary salons only seem to know how to do a graduated bob and though I’ve had some immaculately shiny creations of this style in the past I am so bored with it on me now.
So I did what some hairdressers (apparently) hate but some welcome;
I took a screenshot from a Pinterest collection and showed it when making the appointment for a complete restyle.
However when I arrived the main stylist after some discussion in the back told me they weren’t confident enough to do it, but would phone for a colleague to come in as it required “razor cutting” - sounded dangerous! Had visions of Peaky Blinders but agreed to come back later on where the stylist after examining the enlarged image and asking me twice “are you absolutely sure this is what you want?” (slightly concerned now) I said an emphatic yes and she achieved an excellent adaptation of the style in this picture (not the face though sadly) but I loved it and lots of admiring and compliments from the others in the salon and work mates too. Best “do” I’ve had in years and NO tools required Result!!! Yey!!!
I have mine short now, but my favourite hairstyle is long (without a fringe if your hairline is high enough to possibly get away with it). The most lovely hair I ever saw was a middle eastern lady with long, thick, curly hair and a high hairline. I do love the West African hairstyles too, the coloured sculpted braids. A lot of trouble, but gives a lot of pleasure to the beholder. I also love Hamza Yassin's hair. And long red hair.
I have very thin , very fine hair and I hate it . The colour is ok (white) but I just keep it around chin length with no fringe or layers . I just brush it back from my face when I wash it and it room dries within 15 minutes and then falls into a side part . I also hate going to hairdressers so I get my daughter who is a nurse to chop it every few months .
Some of you were commenting about men's hairstyles. I'm disappointed when I notice a really handsome man and when he turns around he's got a man bun. Anyone else?
