I need knee highs that don’t cut into my leg under the knee.

I have various problems, with my knees, feet and ankles, that require visits to the GP etc. To make life easier I usually wear a skirt and knee highs rather than tights. However the knee highs cut into my legs below the knee and it takes days to stop the irritation. Does anybody know of a brand that is a little wider/gentler at the top please?

I used to have this, afraid it means that tights are the only answer. You will find that knee highs can lead to all sorts of vein problems, speaking from experience here! If the knee highs are loose enough to not injure they will just be ankle decorations!

Thank you Midgey, I had a nasty feeling that would be the answer but I lived in hope.

Trousers would solve this.

Have a look at “Gentle Grip” socks and knee highs.

Yes, Mum buys them from Amazon, think they are an Italian brand, put large size knee highs for diabetics into the Amazon search facility.Very roomy and don’t leave marks.

It is fashionable to wear smart trainers and little ankle socks with dresses, for a different solution. Not keen myself, but …

😲
But I imagine it looks great on teenagers with suntanned and perfect slim and shapely legs.

Gentle Grip are a UK company

I was going to tell you to go on Amazon but a poster has beaten me to it. I had very slim legs but following an accident resulting in heart problems and horribly swollen legs I couldn’t wear any knee highs at all. My diabetic nurse told me about a site which supplied tights, stockings and knee highs and was genuine, always a concern. I am an Amazon customer, I’m the one who ensures they will never go bankrupt, so if you do that and put in the little box, ladies extra large knee highs you will see a selection.
I have no connection with Amazon apart from being a customer and I am not touting for business just trying to offer help for a problem I understand.

Oh, it’s not that brand then.

I’ve been getting adds from a company called Everstride.

These look good from Cosy Feet (sorry for the long link!) www.cosyfeet.com/softhold-knee-highs?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_campaign=GoogleShoppingUK&glCountry=GB&glCurrency=GBP&ps=MTA4Nj0xMTIx&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17347517162&gbraid=0AAAAAD_bxLoYHpn1xSMlmNBKeKITjRIw6&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwsrFBhD6ARIsAPnUFD2j-ja6rSmBZdigdm59fY80RxL2Lk0Qalv2udRYfivUUaT6duqiLwsaAth_EALw_wcB#1086=1121

What about socks?

w1u7 Sat 30-Aug-25 17:18:21

Cozy feet are excellent. A bit more expensive but worth it.

Thank you for your help ladies. I look much better in skirts than trousers and definitely don’t think I could carry off socks with them. I’ve ordered the Cosyfeet ones. Hopefully that’s another problem solved.

Maybe calf length boots ? Longer skirt?

I use knee highs from patra silk I have the bamboo long socks and a couple of pairs of the silk stretch knee highs Both are very comfortable on my chubby legs and don`t show when I wear dresses and skirts. The bamboo ones are warmer, silk are finer. Pricey but I have had mine for many years and still as good as new

teabagwoman, I think you'll be happy with them! I do hope so...
