New Frock for Autum

I have lots of cute little summer dresses, sleeveless and knee length, but now cooler weather is here I needed sleeves and midi length. I went first of all to SeaSalt and was surprised to find I didn’t like anything. Same with FatFace, Joules and Roman. Fortunately White Stuff saved the day and I have ordered this piece of loveliness 😎.

I was just looking on Hobbs site for a new coat and those animal print Mary Jane’s are on there £110.

I absolutely love this dress and now I want one.

That's a great colour.
Lots of lovely stuff in M&S for Autumn too. But I am getting very tempted by shoes this season. So many lovely shoes! I'm normally straight into boots, but I think I'll be on the search for some nice chunky loafers this year.
There is lots of brown around too, which has not been a popular colour for ages. I think that the trends are for slightly more formal styles, a bit less casual? Some cute 'knitted' tops - we would have called them short sleeved sweaters, but they are called knitted tees (as in t-shirts) now. Some with matching cardigans (ie twin-sets!).
I like working out how to 'freshen up' my existing wardrobe with different style shoes or a new top. (I'm going to take some persuading to wear socks instead of tights with my shoes though!)

Oo love this dress, I actually tried it on this morning .....restrainded myself as I am short of trousers and desperately need some boots !

•Crossstichfan• Exactly!😊

Buy it, Blossoming! You want it, you deserve it, so what’s stopping you? 😀

Barbadosbelle Mon 22-Sept-25 16:31:50

That should keep you nice and warm on cold days

Blossoming

It may seem expensive, not as bad as some places but I have been so ill this year and loved it immediately I saw it. I’m done with saving stuff for best 😊

Go for it Blossoming I am sure you will look fabulous 👍

It’s nice but I’d have to wear a polo neck or long sleeved t shirt underneath as it’s a bit low cut.

LucyAnna5 Mon 22-Sept-25 16:21:52

I’ve just bought this one, from FatFace….

I used to be a fan of Seasalt, as I liked the materials and they had some very good colour choices - but sometimes the patterns were not to my liking. However I am rather at war with their head office at the moment. The clothes still look as good and the local staff are very helpful and good at their jobs, but are fed up themselves as now the powers that be at head office - (probably men and accountants!) whilst the brochures still say that larger sizes are available in the shops, now no longer send any larger than size 18 or 20 to the shops. As with trousers , the cut changes a great deal, and I actually have 3 different sizes in 3 pairs of trousers. I expect to be able to go into the shop and feel the material and try things on, but now they expect you to do their work for them, and get things online and wait for the delivery. You also have to pay for 2 different sizes and then send one back. Well not me. I have better things to do than wait in for delivery people. A shame as they do have some very nice clothes in there too.
I tend to go in for mostly trousers and tops at this time of year, and for evenings have some black velvet trousers and a silk shirt which seem to be suitable for most evening events. But interesting to see any good ideas from other people on here

“I have never been a fan of Joules stuff. It is almost like a hideous uniform of padded gilets and stripy jumpers for middle aged women in our market town”………..my thoughts exactly Primrose! I was in joules just last week and everything looked the same as last year, the year before, the year before that……..and those dreadful stripes 🫨

I think this dress must be flattering for all shapes and sizes. It seems a bit expensive but I’d also go for it if it wasn’t out of stock on line! Maybe others have thought the same.

No dresses for me, back to trousers and boots for the foreseeable

Great choice , Blossoming.

whywhywhy Sun 21-Sept-25 16:29:58

Yes, the shoes are gorgeous too.

whywhywhy Sun 21-Sept-25 16:29:11

I wish I could wear something like that but I’m short and a bit plump. Beautiful!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 21-Sept-25 16:27:58

Lovely dress - you should get the shoes too!

whywhywhy Sun 21-Sept-25 16:27:46

I love this dress that you have chosen.

JamesandJon33 Sun 21-Sept-25 16:25:47

I find Seasalt a little patterned and garish at the moment. Even though I have quite a few of their dresses and tunics.
I too like corduroy for the winter but I like it dark
I have just bought a wonderful dark green Toast dress from eBay.Not brand new but perfect.

MollyNew Sun 21-Sept-25 15:26:43

That's a nice dress, I like corduroy for the Autumn/Winter. It should look good with boots too.

Youngerthanspringtime Sun 21-Sept-25 15:22:34

That's a lovely dress. I would only wear it if going out somewhere nice though - say out for a lunch or dinner or a special occasion. Wouldn't be pegging the washing out with it on.

Blossoming Sun 21-Sept-25 12:13:34

Thank you for the feedback Primrose53 and Skydancer.

Skydancer Sat 20-Sept-25 21:20:48

I like dresses. That one looks fashionable and warm. You should get a lot of wear from it. Would look good with a short jacket or cardigan too.
