Meghan swans into a Paris fashion show wearing a voluminous trouser outfit in white. For the first time, I'm close to awarding her douze points, and the fashion experts seem impressed too!

Just a shame the bodyguard with her wore a crumpled shirt and ill-fitting suit. Certainly no Frank Farmer!

Ah no. I didn’t see that exhibition *notspaghetti” though I’ve enjoyed several at the V and A. Was so impressed with the structure that Dior put into his garments. No wonder everyone looked fabulous in them.

Generally I like designers that cut for the female shape, instead of trying to hide or negate it.

Nice outfit ,but it's far too big on Meghan .
I'm not telling her!

Myself I don’t like clothes that justhangand have no shape, especially the oversize look.

I think that is getting close to the point about the choosing of body shapes to model garments in general. The fabric only falls "properly", without bunching, or rippling, on a body without curves or indentation.
I like the layering effect in M's outfits, I think the scarf is a particularly good idea because it hides any ample bosom, or helps the decision how far to have shirt buttons undone!!

We all like different clothes, don’t we?

Myself I don’t like clothes that just hang and have no shape, especially the oversize look, which is why I’m struggling with nightsky’s “stunning” comment.

I really don’t know why you’re struggling. It’s not as if I’m the only person who taught MM looked stunning.

I love the oversized look, you can get away with it if you’re slim and you know what you’re doing!. MM is and so am I but much much older.😊.

Of course everyone has their own idea of clothing. It's just so strange that anyone who doesn't like a particular outfit on a particular person is assumed to dislike it not for the outfit but for the wearer. A mini-skirt and cropped top could look cute on a very slim young person, but that same outfit would probably not attract praise if worn by a wrinkled (even if slim) pensioner. It is disingenuous to the nth degree to argue otherwise.

Of course Balenciaga is known for shape, Lathyrus3

I don't know if anyone else saw the fabulous exhibition at the V&A years ago?

I think the white outfit is fabulous. Maybe a little voluminous but the general idea is exactly what I love.

Guess I just like shape😁

It’s all about personal choice. One thing was certain Meghan Markle was going to get noticed and she certainly was. I too liked the black dress.

Others may not like white, never wear it and not in the form of voluminous garments. I'm not so keen, prefer the black outfit, but think she suits bright colours more.

So it comes down to personal preference.

What is it that you particularly admire nightsky?

It’s a genuine question, because I really don’t see it. Bviously it had impact, but I really thought it made her look much older and, well just not at her best.

Lathyrus3. What is it you particularly admire.

I think she really does look stunning in this outfit. I love white and wore it a lot when I was younger and still wear it when the sun is shining. She might have looked a bit out of place in the local pub wearing it but as it was a fashion show in Paris I think she got it right.

I think she’s a very stylish woman who knows how to dress even if others disagree.

Allira Sun 05-Oct-25 20:25:02

It did download!

Allira Sun 05-Oct-25 20:22:43

Here it is:

Now this suits her! I'd like to wear this but I can't afford it, I'm too old and don't have lovely arms any more.

It won't download, but it's the lbd.

62Granny Sun 05-Oct-25 20:17:29

Not a fan of "The Big I am Meghan" but what I don't understand is she went in wearing white but came out wearing black? Perhaps like Oreo said she spilled something on it.

So many auld grannies tripping over each other to criticise a young woman, each trying to win the funniest nastiest comment award.

Kettle and pot OldFrill

I agree.

Can't we criticise fashion any more?
(I'm not posting that photo of my trouser suit!)

Usedtobeblonde Sun 05-Oct-25 20:07:50

She looked very good in the black outfit so I feel justified in saying that the white outfit was a mistake and she did not look good in it.
In my opinion it was for maximum effect, nothing more.

Redrobin51 Sun 05-Oct-25 20:07:03

Sorry it absolutely swamps her.

Aldom Sun 05-Oct-25 19:48:45

Old Frill if I had gone shopping with my daughter and she had asked my opinion of herself wearing the white outfit seen in the photos of Meghan, I would have been honest and told her not to buy it. It's not flattering. I've seen Meghan look much more attractive than in these photos.

Lathyrus3 Sun 05-Oct-25 19:37:28

Oh come on ilovedogs.

Meghan wore an outfit with impact so that she would be noticed and talked about. That’s the purpose of celebrity events and dress. So why shouldn’t people comment, like they would for any celebrity who has ‘dressed up”.

She certainly achieved that but, in most people’s opinion, it wasn’t flattering. It was styled for catwalk models who are rarely less than 5’ 10.

Don’t you think she usually looks better than this?

merlotgran Sun 05-Oct-25 19:35:19

Meghan is an ‘influencer.’ That means she wants people to emulate everything she does or she won’t earn the squillions she’s hoping for.
That gives us the right to make negative comments if we want to.
Nobody is mentioning Harry because he wasn’t even there - unless she’d manage to smuggle him in under the layers of sheet.

A pudding, definitely over-egged.
