Meghan swans into a Paris fashion show wearing a voluminous trouser outfit in white. For the first time, I'm close to awarding her douze points, and the fashion experts seem impressed too!

Just a shame the bodyguard with her wore a crumpled shirt and ill-fitting suit. Certainly no Frank Farmer!

Others may not like white, never wear it and not in the form of voluminous garments. I'm not so keen, prefer the black outfit, but think she suits bright colours more.

So it comes down to personal preference.

We all like different clothes, don’t we?

Myself I don’t like clothes that just hang and have no shape, especially the oversize look, which is why I’m struggling with nightsky’s “stunning” comment.

It’s all about personal choice. One thing was certain Meghan Markle was going to get noticed and she certainly was. I too liked the black dress.

I really don’t know why you’re struggling. It’s not as if I’m the only person who taught MM looked stunning.

I love the oversized look, you can get away with it if you’re slim and you know what you’re doing!. MM is and so am I but much much older.😊.

Guess I just like shape😁

Coolgran65 Sun 05-Oct-25 23:31:31

I think the white outfit is fabulous. Maybe a little voluminous but the general idea is exactly what I love.

Of course Balenciaga is known for shape, Lathyrus3

I don't know if anyone else saw the fabulous exhibition at the V&A years ago?

Of course everyone has their own idea of clothing. It's just so strange that anyone who doesn't like a particular outfit on a particular person is assumed to dislike it not for the outfit but for the wearer. A mini-skirt and cropped top could look cute on a very slim young person, but that same outfit would probably not attract praise if worn by a wrinkled (even if slim) pensioner. It is disingenuous to the nth degree to argue otherwise.

Myself I don’t like clothes that justhangand have no shape, especially the oversize look.

I think that is getting close to the point about the choosing of body shapes to model garments in general. The fabric only falls "properly", without bunching, or rippling, on a body without curves or indentation.
I like the layering effect in M's outfits, I think the scarf is a particularly good idea because it hides any ample bosom, or helps the decision how far to have shirt buttons undone!!

Esmay Mon 06-Oct-25 08:04:52

Nice outfit ,but it's far too big on Meghan .
I'm not telling her!

NotSpaghetti Mon 06-Oct-25 12:06:22

Esmay grin

Lathyrus3 Mon 06-Oct-25 12:22:12

Ah no. I didn’t see that exhibition *notspaghetti” though I’ve enjoyed several at the V and A. Was so impressed with the structure that Dior put into his garments. No wonder everyone looked fabulous in them.

Generally I like designers that cut for the female shape, instead of trying to hide or negate it.

Anybody who thought she looked nice n this needs a trip to specsavers ..!

Cistercian Monk was my thought but the commitment to a vow of silence? Nah that wouldn't work! So it won't become a habit pardon the pun shock

Actually it is Trappists who are committed to silence, not Cistercians.

As to her garments, to me they look distinctly odd, unless she is trying to conceal an advanced pregnancy.

Usedtobeblonde Mon 06-Oct-25 13:50:59

She never attempted to conceal the last two, only drew attention to them.

4allweknow Mon 06-Oct-25 13:54:40

MOnica love your observation!

Peaseblossom Mon 06-Oct-25 14:33:06

She is 5ft 6in so quite tall.

grannybuy Mon 06-Oct-25 14:38:02

I’m sure most of us have seen some outlandish outfits on catwalks and thought “ who would wear that? “. Many of us today are thinking similar about Meghan’s white outfit. It’s an instinctive reaction - unless you actually like it. I never wear white. Apart from underwear, I don’t actually possess any white garments. I think that deeper colours suit me better, but I could be wrong. We don’t see ourselves as others see us!

Mojack26 Mon 06-Oct-25 14:40:12

She looks a complete mess in my opinion

rowyn Mon 06-Oct-25 14:44:48

Give her a hot water bottle and she'd be ready for bed?

mokryna Mon 06-Oct-25 14:47:25

She was incognito so she. didn’t need the uk tax payer for a full security team and I hope I didn’t pay towards a French one Both her and H seem to pop over when they want to without any problems Did she come over in a private plane?

FranP Mon 06-Oct-25 14:49:25

First thing I thought was that she looked tired and ill. Possibly she and bodyguard had been travelling, if he looked crumpled.

She looks as if she has lost weight, so possibly the outfit was a size too big, which it looks like. Yes, she could carry the design if it had been a smaller size

Lathyrus3 Mon 06-Oct-25 14:53:30

Private security can carry guns in France, subject to certain conditions, so I guess she hired some armed security whilst in France.

Missiseff Mon 06-Oct-25 14:59:32
