Mascara That Doesn't Smudge

Can any one recommend one please.
I've bought 2 recently Rimmel and Boots but both smudge really badly.
I'm conscious I do rub my eyes occasionally, which obviously doesn't help. However, a lot of the time I end up looking like a panda anyway.
Thank you

Elf Tubing mascara, the one with a teal-green lid. Every other mascara smudges on ke, but this one doesn't. DD loves it as well.

Lancôme Idole works well for me. It has a curved brush which curls my lashes upwards nicely. It says on very well but is not difficult to remove. I found tubing mascara hard to get off and I am aware of loooking after my lashes before they start disappearing with everything else!
I have read a couple of articles which recommend against using waterproof mascara unless you really do need it for swimming, et cetera because it is hard to remove.

My lashes are long but dead straight. I don't fancy using a heated or non-heated eyelash curler very near my eyes so have to rely on a mascara instead.

Sardinia2020 - I have just bought Maybelline Sky High in an attempt to find a mascara that lifts and curls my lashes. I haven't tried it yet.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone with the same kind of eyelashes who has found a mascara that comes in brown and doesn't clump or flake off after a few hours.

Benefit Roller Lash comes in black or brown, lifts and doesn’t smudge.

I go between the above and Lancôme Hypnoise, which also comes in different shades.

I have used Lancome mascara it is probably the best, but expensive .
If you want one that really doesn't shift - it's Max Factor !

Another vote for Maybelline SkyHigh.

Lash tinting has always been a disappointment for me - it doesn’t lengthen lashes like mascara does and it soon fades.😕

Re other posters. Wateroroof mascara used to last for days. Had to chiselled
off. Just the job!

Oops salon!

In 50 years never found a mascara that doesn't smudge. I have them coloured at a saloon. I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself.

I always used to get panda circles under my eyes but I now use tubing mascaras and I don't have a problem. No7 have a tubing mascara, also Maybelline Skyhigh is good. They remove with warm water which is a bonus.

I've used Max Factor waterproof in black/brown for years - but it's not always available in that colour. Needs waterproof remover.

I recommend Avon lash genius - great mascara and a good price from Amazon

The best mascara I've ever used is Victoria Beckham Future Lash - never smudges and lasts well. Also VB Satin Kajal liner. Pricey but well worth it, in my opinion.

I gave up on mascara years ago - I think it looks very aging. I dye my eyelashes myself using a cream called Strictly Professional eyelash tint - £6 off Amazon. You have to buy the developer fluid separately, costs £10, but both products last ages, so much cheaper than having it done in a salon. The tint comes in various colours- brown looks most natural, but I favour an Elvis blue/black shade. I use a smear of Vaseline to separate eyelashes and give them some gloss.

Maybelline Firework. Brilliant, no smudges ever but easy to remove.

Milliedog Thu 06-Nov-25 15:28:55

Estee Lauder works for me. Not the waterproof one....

I suspect we are all different in this regard. But I have always used Lancôme waterproof, as nothing else stood up to professional dancing use.

I use ELF tubing mascara which won't budge all day and washes off with warm water. They also do brown which I find much softer as we age.

I recently changed all the products I use, for ones with no nasty ingredients. It took me a while to swap everything out, and I was very dubious about leaving some brands and products that I had used for years behind, but am glad I have done it. One of my swaps was from an expensive brand mascara, to e.l.f. Lash XTNDR. It is available in brown and black and I love the brown as it’s not so dark. It has been great as far as staying power goes. All the young girls in Superdrug rave about it when I’m buying it 😊

Have you tried waterproof mascara?

Georgesgran Wed 05-Nov-25 21:43:57

If you have decent eyelashes, would it be worth having them dyed - then you could rub your eyes without fear of the panda look?

Esmay Wed 05-Nov-25 20:10:16

Another vote for Maybelline .
I also like Revlon .
Max Factor is good ,but I sometimes think a bit irritating .
All three give a good build up on eyelashes .
I take mine off with baby oil and then have blurry eyes , but I think that the oil conditions my lashes.
