Lip balm recommendations please

Hi everyone. Can anyone please recommend a lip balm that actually improves your lip’s condition. I have tried many, and whilst they stop them feeling tight, it doesn’t last, I keep needing to reapply, and they don’t ever make my lips looks soft or smooth. I rarely spend a fortune on make up but surely there must be something out there that can improve pinched crinkly lips?

Thanks again everyone. Definitely going to try some of your recommendations

I have very dry sore lips and the best dry lip stick is Neutrogena Lips SFP20 for dry chapped lips - Norwegian Formula. I buy 3 or 4 at a time in Boots so that I have one in each main room and my handbag.

Another vote for Burts Bees, both lip balm and hand cream. Fabulous stuff.

I was recommended Avene Lip Balm for Sensitive Lips.
I have found it to be excellent. It is made from cold crème so is long lasting and moisturises very well
I got it from A….n about 7ish pounds. I find I don’t have to reapply it very often . About the same as you would lipstick

Another vote for Vaseline and also for Elizabeth Arden eight range. The great thing about lip balm is that it doesn’t have to be used with precision but the Elizabeth Arden has three tints if you do want a bit of colour.

I must say that I’m a bit addicted to lip balm! I always have one with me and extra ones at home in case I lose it. I’ve tried all sorts of expensive ones but always come back to my favourites - Aloe Vera Vaseline overnight, and Nivea Hydro Care during the day (light blue case) I agree that no lip balm will stay effective all day due to how ‘busy’ our lips are.

Chapstick original
The black one.
Or anything else that contains camphor

What on earth compelled you to make such an offensive remark?

And also

Are you simple ? Go into any chemist and they have about 25 different types ...

How rude.

….and didn’t read (or comprehend?) the OP

Thanks everyone for your input. Maybe I’m searching for something that doesn’t exist, ie one that actually makes a difference to how they look and feel for a few hours 🤷‍♀️

SynchroSwimmer Wed 04-Feb-26 11:40:50

Burts Bees as recommended upthread.
Also highly rate La Roche Posay products.
Currently using a specialist SPF50 lip balm of theirs, but I see they have some more specialist lip treatment options which I will be ordering.

So rude!

Our lips are a busy area of our bodies…..we talk, they move…..we drink, they move…….we eat, they move……we yawn, they move………..it’s natural that anything applied to them will need to be reapplied regularly. It wears off, gets absorbed or rubs off on cups etc.

I know someone’s going to respond with ‘my xxxx full volume, endless cover, last 48 hour’s lipstick’ doesn’t need reapplying but think of the chemicals in them to make them so??!!

OP there’s been countless recommendations for lip balms upthread and from experience, they all need to be regularly reapplied to maintain coverage.

I prefer Neutrogena, but do have to keep applying. I am addicted to lip salves and have been since I was 18. My lips no longer produce their own moisture, so go easy on it.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 04-Feb-26 09:00:18

Another vote for Burt Bees.

Sueinkent Tue 03-Feb-26 22:17:42

Chap stick cherry flavour.

Bukkie Tue 03-Feb-26 22:16:24

You can't beat good old vaseline.

hamster58 Tue 03-Feb-26 22:13:22

Suzieque, that’s a bit rude isn’t it? I’m fully aware of the number of choices, but I haven’t found one that really makes a difference

I apply lip balm several times a day. Same with hand cream. I haven't found one that will last all day.
