I’m 5”1’ and size 10! I’m struggling to find comfortable but still stylish jeans. Anybody found the elusive perfect jeans for us ladies of a smaller stature please!

I'm 5'1 too. I now get my trousers and jeans from the Bon Marche Sara range. They do 25" and 27 " leg which works well with my height. They do other lengths too, but they are too long for me.

Yes size 2 feet as well. I love shoes but find it a nightmare trying to buy them. Years ago used to buy them when on holiday in Italy and Spain, so pretty and plenty of choice.

I usually get mine from M&S as they do high rise jeans in short lengths. Lately, though, there have been so many of the very wide-legged trousers/jeans which look silly on me as I am short too - only 4 foot 11. In fact, I don't think they look good on most people. I hope they soon go out of fashion.

M&Co do short lengths I think but they have no shops now, it's all on line.

They are not the skinny type of jeggings, but more like ordinary jeans.

Have you looked in Edinburgh Woollen Mill? They do denim pull-on elasticated waist “jeggings” which come in short leg lengths.

Have you also got small feet? My mum's friend was short with size 2 feet, she had to buy children's shoes which didn't give her much choice 🫤

No we are not all shrinking to 5 ft/5ft.1. This is the height I have always been since my teenage years. I do accept though that some people do lose height as they get older. Who knows I may end up 4ft 6inches and have even more trouble finding clothes to fit me!

I was only ever 5’0”. We are invisible to the clothing industry. Some supposedly ‘petite’ lengths are laughable. Many shop assistants seem to think that ‘petite’ means size 8 only!!
Danni Minogue does petites on QVC but they’re expensive. At least you can return them though, if you’re not happy.

I’m now 4’11” (I’ve shrunk!) I’ve had some good, stretchy, straight leg jeans in petite from Matalan.

Went into M&S last year in Canterbury & was told they'd stopped doing petite !!
Maybe it was just that branch as so many of you have advocated them.

Lands End. Many shapes and they will taylor the length to your spec.

Good grief! Are we all shrinking to 5ft/5ft 1? 😬😆

Nannan2 Sat 14-Mar-26 23:23:17

Judy54- yes i too find the crop ones are often a full length on me. Particularly m&s and matalan.

Nannan2 Sat 14-Mar-26 23:17:41

See,even Next's childrens range are NOT right! 😆

Nannan2 Sat 14-Mar-26 23:15:30

Well i can say dont buy from NEXT petite range,i got some and i held them up in front of me they came up to my armpits from the floor!- i returned and emailed about them, they must have a very weird idea of what 'petite' is.

All I can add is that unless you are tall and willowy, barrel leg jeans should be avoided at all costs.
The “been in the saddle for the last three weeks” is NOT a good look!

I bought my levi 501s on ebay for £8. They had been professionally shortened and were in excellent condition
I saw similar at a market stall well worn levis at £30 a pair.

DO look in M&S, their Spring jeans and trousers are all showing my (31" leg) ankle bones (sigh!) - wide, slim and straight so should be fine for you

Such a useful thread! Thank you from a shorty.

Youngnanny Sat 14-Mar-26 17:07:17

1 weigh 9stone 3, height 5 foot nothing 😝 I love Levi jeans, I’m a size 10, sometimes 12, I brought some 501’s waist 28 length 26, had them in the sale, £60, to add to my Levi collection 😂

Fartooold Sat 14-Mar-26 16:52:18

My daughter , 41 is 4ft 5ins and is a size 4/6 she buys Next 11/12 yr old and they still need shortening (thank you Mum!) I understand how you all feel, I loathe sewing!!

Skallywag Sat 14-Mar-26 16:40:33

Halara jeans. Wonderful. I will never go back!

Magenta8 Sat 14-Mar-26 16:23:25

Land's End online petite jeans. They have a sale on at the moment.

I am in the US but I think finding jeans that fit ones style and body type a global issue.

I wear a US 4R. I have a short torso but long legs, 31 inch inseam. I like straight cut, normal /long rise jeans. I have found a brand and style that I would pay an outrageous amount to buy. My brand is Liz Claiborne and the style is HEPBURN. I have two pair. One I found at TJMAXX (our version of TKMAXX) last week. I have one pair of Levis that will be passed on because they are a little low in rise.

ZARA ..

Size 10 is equivalent to Size 42 is a ten ..

You can order online or at Zara ..

My suggestion would be - to go and try on various styles and leg widths.

And see which look best .. Match up a great blazer and gorgeous sweater or blouse and a pair of cowboy boots.
