Finally completed a wardrobe clear out

I usually work on the principle of one in one out, so when buying a new piece of clothing an old one goes. The only exception to this is some good pieces that I have had for years which are still worn for special occasions.

I am the same, althiugh usually I buy new because something has worn out.

I was looking at some brown cords yesterday and deciding they will see winter out and then only be fit for the bin. ditto the brown ankle boots I usually wear with them.

However I will not need to buy anymore clothes as I have a pair of olive cords that will go with the sweater I usually wear with the brown trousers, that have been tucked away in a drawer awaiting their second coming for a year or two.

I need to go to the charity shops, all my "everyday" clothes have become worn, saggy or have small bits of paint on. In the winter I often wear them round home anyway, they're clean & I do a lot of DIY and cooking & don't want to ruin my good things - coat obligatory if I'm popping out.
This time of year I realise I don't have anything casual but smart that I can wear out & at home.
It will be one out, one in, but the ones that go out will be binned!

I have started on a clothes clear out, I did some last year and sold some things on Vinted but for the small amount of money I got it wasn’t worth the hassle. So I wait for charity bags that come through the door on a regular basis, anything in really good condition I take to the BHF charity shop in town. I have stopped buying things in sales, I would often buy something because it was a bargain then when I got it home I would find I had nothing to go with it.

We’ve been doing the same and it’s very satisfying. All my husband’s work clothes have gone too since his Stroke.

I take loads of once read books to the Big C Centre at the hospital where my son has chemo as they are a great support to our family.

Need to start on all those ornaments I don't want but kept because someone bought it for me.

I have lots of those! It seems unlucky to give it away for some reason.

As for clothes, I take them out, think I might wear it, put them back but never do.

I sorted my winter clothes last autumn when I was putting summer things away intending to do the same when the summer stuff comes out again. We have a holiday early May and that cull needs to take place quite soon.

I got rid of so much when we moved last year, cupboards and drawers full of clothes, china etc etc.

We are now in our new uncluttered, new home.

Everything is ordered, it is a good feeling.

My husband has a propensity to buy and hoard but even he loves the new order.

We don’t miss a single thing that went off to the auction room or anything that has gone to the tip/charity shop.

Well done. When it's all done you will feel lighter and better.

I really have to do the same. I sorted out ( chucked ) all my scarves and hats etc and that took a few hours. It makes me feel sick thinking of it. Same applies to my ‘craft’ room.

Keep up the good work Allsorts. I have been decluttering after holding onto things I don’t really need or want anymore for far too many years. For some reason I went through a phase of buying gilets, nice enough but I hardly ever wore them because I couldn’t fasten a coat or jacket over them and was always cold if I just wore a gilet outside. Totally impractical for me.
