Old looking hands.

Tbh its because as we get older our skin thins, so our veins show up more, solve that and we are on a winner,,,,,

it is partly age as well as luck of the draw - I have them now but not dreadful yet at 75, but 3 years ago not. So if you are 60 something sorry it might be timing.

Looking at hands at the gym (a place to see all shapes and sizes and ages) some very skinny people in their late 50's have them. I wonder if it's related to body weight? (dont know)

Like all wrinkles partly luck of the draw never worn gloves to garden or do house work. Got far fewer wrinkles on hands than sister in law who gardens in gloves and even peals veg with gloves on

The paraffin wax treatments don't change the veins (I checked) but look lovely for arthritis.

You can buy them but they’re quite expensive. The hospital recommended them for arthritic hands.

I use a product called Navy made in Cornwall and can be purchased on Amazon. They do hand cream and cuticle nourishment .

Another use for cotton gloves. I’ve always worn Marigolds for washing up but in this hot weather my hands sweat horribly inside them ( never realised hands sweated) so I buy a size larger and wear cotton gloves underneath. I also wear them if I’ve put ibuprofen or Voltarol gel (both poisonous to dogs) on my arthritic hands as I’m worried that the dog might lick them. Another fan of Neutrogena; I think they used to advertise it saying that Norwegian fishermen used it?

I'm beginning to understand why for so many years "ladies" wore gloves all year round! It was just dying out when I was young. And those long long gloves with evening dress, covered a lot of arm too!

But young women did too all summer - I wonder if it was to keep hands from drying out

when I was young I could never grow my nails , I envied girls who had lovely manicured nails...but my hands were nice...now I have to cut my nails every fortnight , they grow so fast,but I have old wrinkly hands, can't win..

My hands look 10 years older than my face 😫

Good point, hot weather, dehydration....you can try taking collagen supplements, but that a long shot. (I'm trying it for hair, but its also a skin thingy)

Now thats a new one on me, interesting, the cotton gloves. But then do you have to wash the gloves to reuse?

i have never use lotions sometimes ai mix with vaseline and johnson baby lotion -it smells like jasmine

Always had very ordinary hands... so now they are just arthritic and wrinkly..
But I did have quite nice knees, feet and ankles.. now I have very "old" and rubbery looking ones!

Same here. I wonder if it’s because I haven’t looked after them the way I look after the rest of my skin - no sunblock, no gentle soap and moisturiser. Also I do lots of gardening and housework without wearing gloves, and scrub my nails clean very vigorously when they’ve got garden soil under them. That sounds so bad, going up stairs to get some hand cream now!

To get best results keep nails nice an d trimmed and cuticles done, done use nail varnish to draw attention

I use Neutrogena hand cream which is not expensive, lovely and rich. You get some latex gloves is the medical sort (not expensive buy in bulk) and put loads of cream on your hands and put gloves on and keep on for a couple of hours. Always protect hands doing more or less anything demanding. Always cool them when it's hot.

(Veins show more if your blood flow is bad deep breathing oxygenates the blood and helps blood flow but its a minimal improvement..can be related to heart health generally ie blood pumps around and doesn't get stuck)

I used to have nice hands - big, but slim and my ring size is still J left and K right, but now they are old (like me) wrinkled and with prominent veins on the back. I don’t exactly hide them, but I’m no longer proud of them. I just thank whoever/whatever that they’re still quite mobile and aren’t troubled by RA or any other serious conditions.
I use hand and nail creams, so they’re soft enough, but the tell tale signs of age are beyond help.

There was a programme on Ch 4 or 5 the other night in which a woman had fat from her bottom injected into her hands to make them look younger . Does anyone remember an episode of Green Wing in which someone put some new glasses on, looked at her hands and recoiled in horror? That’s how I feel these days; my hands have been my only vanity. And the trouble with them is that they’re the only part of your body that you can’t not see.

Not in my experience! The only good thing is they match the rest of me 😉 seriously I've tried loads of creams but they are still wrinkly with brown spots.
