Have you Googled this? If their help line is very busy it sounds as though a lot of other people also have the problem, so there may be information out there about what has happened and what to do about it. Even if the advice is just "contact the helpline" it is comforting to know that you are not the only one.

Obsolescence nicely timed for when it is out of guarantee, I'll bet.

The motor on my Dyson hand held cleaner stopped at 13 months. It was a big fight but eventually they sent me replacement parts. I had to shout about it 'not being fit for the purpose' and reasonable expectations of a longer lifespan.

I know the items are not the same but it is wrong to have this built in obsolescence so worth a strongly worded letter at least. Good luck.

I am going to havea go at John Lewis and Humax. They have offered me when i got through to them a refurbished replacement for £75 which I think is a bit of a cheek.
