Mobile with a good keypad

I beg to differ BrendawymmsMy Samsung Galaxy Android is a Google phone and so it is easy to keep in sync with my laptop through Google. I also keep all my files, contacts etc in the "Cloud" and they can be accessed through anything apple or android or microsoft. As for viruses, always have a good antivirus programme or app on whatever you are using, they can get in anywhere!!

The android anything are not so good at linking with other bits of kit as there are many operating systems that aren't compatible.
If you have an IPAD I would recommend an iphone as they talk to each other, the rough I cloud, and now to other Apple products through Air drop.
Although there is always a virus risk it is much higher on an Android phone than an Apple one..

PS If 'fat finger' typing is a problem, you can use a stylus. I use one on the tablet and you can buy a pack of them very cheaply from Amazon.

I have acquired a Motorola Moto G which is relatively new on the market. It has the latest Android OS and a better on-screen keyboard than the early model Samsung I had previously. Today my son explained to me how to have a video call which was fun - I got both sons at the same time.

Pittcity, that is a very important function. I can swipe on my Kindle Fire keyboard and can't imagine being without that.

Samsungs come with 'Swype' which means you do not need to type just swipe your finger across the correct letters
Very easy to you used to and great for fat fingers.

My son is visiting and explained to me that Android is an operating system and the competitor to Apple (iPhone).

I have just bought an android phone (not an iphone) I bought an unlocked Chinese copy which is a quarter of the price of a brand named one, with the same guarantees. I am amazed at what it will do and cannot put it down. The key board is 5 1/2in when turned sideways, I am not the best at typing but this is easier and quicker than a computer

Oops sorry I disappeared, had a house full of unexpected visitors today. O think an Android is anything that isn't owned by Apple! So to me unless it's an iPhone or an iPad, it's an Android. Happy to be corrected though because I can't even remember where I got that from

Samsung are supposed to be the best. I've an iPhone4 which is great.
I googled 'Android' yesterday and it is simply explained but I've forgotton already!!
So,I suggest you Google it too (you might remember better than me)

I need a new phone, and want a smartphone, having had a Blackberry up till now. Shall I get an iPhone, or an Android and if the latter, any thoughts on the Samsung? Thanks!

If you use an iphone key pad in landscape it's a reasonable size and would link with your iPad through the cloud. You can buy nearly new iPhones, say a 4s for a reasonable price. Would need to get an unlocked one or one already on the network you use.
