'Landline-free' Broadband

My broadband is not connected to a phone line. I have a dish on my house, the signal comes form masts which are bounced down through the Islands. Off this I run my computer and android phone via WiFI, I pay for 1024kb/s which, most of the time I get near enough to what I pay for. However, we are having some trouble now with speeds, as so many people have subscribed, much more than expected. As I post this message super fast fibre optic broadband cables are being laid across (The Minch) the sea, and on the Islands, I shall wait and see which is better.

I don't think this will reach beyond the cities for a long time. My broadband speed is less than 2mbs and frequently drops out, yet I am paying the same as people who live in the city centre who are getting 15 mbs.

I would have it as my next door neighbour was vile when her gardener cut the landline which comes from her house and said that she wasn't having the BT engineer touching her house. This has happened before and she kicked up a fuss then. Her husband was paid a lump sum for the line from the neighbouring houses to be put up in the Fifties. Vile woman.

It sounds good - but if there is a transportable hub, we would be fighting over it. Or DBH would be wanting it with him all day. We would have to have two.

We would certainly consider it. We will probably be a low priority being out in a rural area. As it is, we have to use a signal booster for our mobiles and a similar gizmo for our computers. Ah, technology, eh?
