cheap tablet for granny

Can anyone recommend a cheap tablet that is super user-friendly please? I'm looking for on e for my 81 year-old mum so that she can use Skype to see grandkids. She is not experienced with laptops etc and we live miles away so it has to be easy for her to use and not too expensive.

I do quite a bit of work on the computer so I still use a monitor and keyboard for that.
But my backup and in my handbag tablet is a Kindle Fire HD, love it.
