iPad font

If you are using Windows on a laptop/desktop, type 'magnifier' into the Search box at the bottom left of the screen next to the Start button and select it in the list that appears; you can use this app to make text/pages as large as you like.

I agree and if the system is like mine, I cannot change the font for any incoming emails. Again one would think that would be something simple.

I think so charley but no harm in trying for a fix . As much as anything I'm frustrated with Apple. Seems such a reasonable thing to want.

cornergran I am sure if you explain the difficulties that you are having, he or she will not want you reverting to your desk top. I am sure that he/she will cope with whatever font you are sending information.

Not daft at all auntieflo, think she uses a desktop, though. That's a good idea, nanam, I'll try sending messages as an attachment, see if that works, otherwise it's a desktop for me as well, we've got one, it's just not always so convenient as the iPad. Sometimes Apple is a swear word in this house . It's taken some getting used to after a lifetime of Microsoft use, some things are easier, some not. Evens out overall I think. Thank you all for thinking about this. We will persevere.

Cornergran, this may sound daft, but has your friend/recipient, tried the finger swiping to increase the size of emails received? It works on my Ipad.

You could always create an attachment to your email, to be opened by your recipient. Write it using a text app and make the font large.

You have to remember that iPad and iPhone use the same operating system. I'm not sure that font size matters on an iPhone, the iPhone/iPad software is designed to make the font readable on a small screen.

Yes, found that tizliz. Sadly the change isn't reproduced at the other end, if you see what I mean. I use Apple Mail nanam as we have an iMac and iPhones, so it's easier, it seems the wretched iPad can't (it feels like won't!) change the font size. Goodness knows why that isn't built in Sometimes I wish we hadn't deserted Windows. Thank you both for thinking about this for me. It just means anything I need to send in a larger font has to be produced on the iMac. Grumble, grumble .

I think I have answered the wrong bit ? It is up to the recipient to adjust their screen

cornergran if you go to settings, general, accessibility you can choose large font which gives your emails a larger font on your screen.

I guess you will get several replies but you have specifically mentioned using an iPad. I'm not aware that you can actually set the font size for Apple mail on an iPad but you can make it look bigger for yourself using the accessibility settings on your iPad. If you were using Microsoft Outlook as your email client, you can set the font size on that and, if it is sent to and opened by a compatible email client, your settings should be reproduced on the receiver's. Note that Apple and Microsoft don't play very well together.

It is really up to the recipient in this case, the recipient will also have accessibility settings on their computer so they can make the font look bigger when they recieve emails.

Having said all this, I wouldn't be surprised if another Gransnetter knows differently.
