Yes suzz that's the first thing we did.

We've had a similar problem, nina, good to know we aren't alone. Sent ours off for repair (extended warranty), repairer replaced the hard drive. Should fix anything. The issue was back after about six months. We also unplug the power cable for a few minutes and it re-sets itself, irritating but it works. Next big purchase is a new tv with built in Freeview.

Have you tried changing the batteries in the remote control?

2-3 times in the last month or so our freeview box has stopped responding to the remote, it won't change channel or alter volume etc. Unplugging and plugging back in works and it's fine until the next time. There is no warning and can happen two mins after the last action.
Is this a problem with the box, the reception (new ariel) or what ? wifi remains connected when it happens.
