replacing light bulbs

Is there a Dummies' guide to light bulbs? I'm baffled by the number of different ones in my house.

I also use LED's and they seem to be lasting well.

Like Farmor15 I also have been replacing mine with LEDS. I will save money and they last a long time. They are expensive but should pay their way.

Check your fitting. A fault in one of ours resulted in the bulb lasting considerably less than the advertised 30,000 hrs.

From my experience of GU 10 bulbs, the older, halogen ones used to last quite a short time and I’ve been replacing them with the newer LED types which are supposed to last a very long time. But from your post, it looks like you have LED (7 w one) which has not lasted. Might just have been a dud one. It should be ok to replace with the 50 w one anyway.
