mobile sim and data and cost

I am in with vod, bought a 12 month sim only deal, it has the best coverage in my new area. I may never need a landline and broadband if 4G is good enough.

I’ve been operating on just the phone since moving in October.

I’m with Tesco. I have2GB of data and that’s plenty.

But I don’t download the Daily Mail or anything!

Visit Rightmove several times a day though ?

Another vote for Giffgaff, you can change your package of data/minutes/texts each month with no problem, you do it online.

It runs on the O2 network.

I’ve always ported my number to whichever provider I use, had the same number for more than 20 years.

Have a look at Giffgaff, I pay £5 a month, free calls to other Giffgaff numbers. Worth having a look at.

I am going to need 4G because I want to tether my laptop to my mobile. It looks as though vod will have the best coverage indoors and outdoors. I don`t think landline and bb are operational on the development yet. I am an early mover

I pay 9.29 per month with Virginmedia for sim only deal, for that I get 5GB data, unlimited texts, 1500 minutes ( and free Virgin to Virgin) I never use anywhere near that but it comes in handy if I go away and there is no internet that I can connect to. I also have my phone set up as a hotspot, so the grandkids can use my data if we are out and about and they have no data allowance left.

You don't need 4g data for phone calls or texts.
Music streaming and downloading audible will take more data than simply browsing the internet.
For example I was away for a month and used less than 2mb of data to check and add photos to Facebook, read GN, use Google and maps, check the news etc.

If you will only be without wifi for a short while I suggest buying a data add on for one month, so you will not be paying every month for data you are not using.

Some providers even let you change your allowance if you need more or less.

That said, 4.5gb for £9 a month is very reasonable if that includes calls and texts.

I have a Plusnet SIM with unlimited texts/minutes and 1.5GB data for/ £6.25pm.
I bought my own Samsung phone and yes, you get a number with your SIM.
If you change provider in the future, you can ask for a PAC (code) which enables you to have the number you now have, ported over to you next provider.
I've had my mobile number for more than 26 years.
I don't need data as there are lots of hotspots where I live and I usually use Wi-Fi at home, not out and about, as other people can lock onto your phone that way.

I have very recently got my own smartphone and a sim only package. I wondered the same about how much data I would need. I googled the question and the answers formed the basis of what I went for. I pay that for 4gb, cannot remember how many calls and texts I get. Yes, they would send a sim and number. If you already have a mobile number you can no doubt keep that too, not too difficult. You can also check that EE has good coverage at your new address, again simply google the question.
