Password managers

I’ve also been wondering whether this maybe a better way of remembering the wretched things.
At the moment they are written neatly in a book where any self respecting burglar could find it.

I access a few of my accounts on my iPad and phone with my thumb print. If I’m mugged all they have to do is cut off my thumb.?

I use the free Dashlane and it's ok.
It's always nagging me that I use the same or similar passwords on many sites and I really need to take some time clearing out the stuff that it has remembered that I'll never need again.
When it works well and signs you in automatically it's great, but no good for the ones who only want certain characters from the password as it tries to put them all in.
I'd say to try the free version first. I have it on all my devices...they don't sync but it's easy to see the password on one device and add it to another.

I've used Roboform for many years, and it works very well for me. It is a paid for version, approximately £15 to £18 a year, although they often have offers of discounts.

I mainly use the software on my Windows PC, although I believe you can also use for ipads, and there is a version for Apple computers.

Roboform is easy to set up, just type your 'identity', name, address, and each password that you use.

For a free password manager, which I believe is excellent, Lastpass is highly recommended.

Ive used the paid for version of Dashlane for a few years now and find it invaluable.

Its encryption is one of the best. It syncs my password changes between a laptop, iPad and iPhone . It does prompt to fix weak passwords and over used passwords which I think is a good thing. It also notifies me of any data breaches on sites I use.

It has a dark web search function and if enabled that searched the dark web for your email or personal data. it then notifies you so you can change any passwords or personal data.

I wouldn't be without it.

It may be worth mentioning that you can arrange for someone you trust to get access to your passwords in the event if your death. This is a facility provided by Dashlane. I don't know if others provide this service.

I pay for Dashlane. I can create passwords of variable length and select various complexity options and access my passwords from all my devices (I include details of accessing accounts, website, security questions too, it's all there and it is secure).

We use the free version of LastPass. Takes a bit of getting used to, but I like it.
