I also much prefer the landline as 02 has very poor connection where I live, and the worst spot in my area seems to be my house!

I would get rid of my landline like a shot if the mobile phone companies would improve coverage. We have virtually no signal which is a pain for online banking. We message friends and family on WiFi.

I only have my landline and when the old set died a couple of weeks ago, I got a new one on Ebay - loads on there, reasonable prices.

We have to have a landline as our care line is run through it so I can't see LL phones not being available in the future what kind of problems would we have if mobile services went down for any length of time.
I have not used my mobile since I retired from fulltime work I just don't need to be in constant contact with anyone anymore thank goodness,if people need to speak to me they know my LL number and where I live,

I only use a landline and I have bought a few phones on Amazon. They last well....I usually stick to buying BT basic phones.

For the other question I think it might be because the internet works in most homes via the phonelines?

Have a look online - John Lewis still sell landline phones. And I dare say e,g. Argos too. We recently got 3 new cordless ones - for bedroom, sitting room and kitchen.
Do mostly uses his mobile but I still prefer the LL when at home.

I've been using the landline because it's compatible with hearing aids, but my phone has died. None of the phone shops sell landline phones any more as everyone has mobiles. It's either Amazon or Argos for a new phone. But for how long?
My other question is why does virgin and BT insist that we keep our landlines - they are part of the package with Internet and TV. I'm confused now.
