Windows 7 not updating in New Year

I would get a It support person to check your computer and do the download.

I tried to download Windows 10 when it came out, it downloaded alright but I could not get it to run. It kept saying 'fatal error' but with no indication what the problem was and googling the error message didn't help either.

I now have a useful support consultatncy I use and arranged for them to do it for me. Before the support guy started he checked my computer and said it didnt have enough RAM (I think, anyway something like that) and as a result if I want to run Windows 10, I need to replace my computer with one with enough capacity to run it. So check it out first.

My computer is about 8 years old.

Yes just as I thought. I hope my laptop can take it. Thanks for reply.

I loved Windows 7 but have had Win 10 for the past few years as the old laptop was on its way out.
The only indication I ever got when using 7 was that Microsoft were no longer going to maintain Win 7.

I use a laptop and Windows 7. Have recently had a message informing me that in January they will not be updating anything and have supplied a tick box for Windows 10.

Has anyone else encountered this and is it safe to do this please?
