Amending notes made on IPad calendar

Good afternoon to all techy minded people who may be reading this.

After a recent update to my IPad, I can no longer seem to easily amend any notes that I make in my Calendar. Usually long ones

I used to be able to tap, and a 'bubble?' would appear, that scrolled along the text. Where you stopped, you could then alter/ amend things you had written.

I no longer seem to be able to do this! Am I doing it all wrong? Or is there another, simple way to amend?
