Looking for workmen, they all seem to be on Facebook.

I have used tradesmen from Facebook. SO variable, good reviews are no judge of quality.

I would do as Ooops said and go on personal recommendations, OR search a long standing company online. I have used two sets of roofers. One, awful, did a dodgy job and expensive for what they did (I didn't realise it before). The second, a company in the area for over 30 years, VERY reasonable price. Fixed the problem first time with no fuss, bother. AND worked very quickly, but completely solved the problem.

Just be careful though. I just searched for the local handyman whom I have used occasionally on FB. I found two, each site had the same look to it and most of the pictures of their work in the Galleries were the same! But they were located at almost opposite ends of the country.

We use Trusted Traders in 2020 or neighbours recommendations, I wouldn’t use just FB for tradespeople. As well as, yes, but not on its own.
But it is brilliant for local news, our Police Force also posts on one local FB page and others share it around the Village sites, road closures, take away menus in our local pubs, warnings of strange vehicles and people having a clear out and giving away things.
It’s a very useful resource.

Facebook is brilliant for looking at photos of their work. People also add comments about recommendations. I use it all the time. Facebook leads you to a website if there is one. It's the modern way.

I use Facebook for recommendations, local news like road closures, updates from our GP surgery and a local give away free site. It’s a good resource for local immediate information.

Our local FB pages are great for getting recommendations for various trades, good and bad reviews.
Not just local companies either, you would be surprised what you can see about the big businesses too - it certainly helped out my son with a big problem with his Ford car recently and around Dec 2019/Jan 2020 with Oak Furniture Land (dreadful lot to deal with). Just being able to chat with people who had similar problems and how they solved them was great.

I don’t have Facebook, but when my gardener relocated a couple of years ago, my daughter found a replacement on Facebook, and he’s been great.

I am not a fan of facebook and do wonder the same sparkling I will not contact any business via facebook nor any without a landline number as it's like having a PO box in days gone by.

It is easy , quick and free to market a business on Facebook compared to a website which might not be necessary for a small business .

I joined FB at the start of the first lockdown to see what was happening locally especially on the village page . I don’t have any ‘friends’ , I don’t post anything about myself or life , no photos etc .
It’s a fantastic resource and I have used it many times this past year , both receiving and giving .

I get mine from friends recommendations.

Our local Facebook page often asks for recommendations for local plumbers, builders etc, and always gets lots of suggestions.

My dh swears by Which Trusted Traders.
Everyone from there has been v good so far.
