Thank you Marydoll I'll have a look at that. It would seem I've been shelling out for a service I didn't need all these years!

I have had a Kaspersky security package on my computer for several years. I can't see that it ever does anything apart from scan the computer, finding nothing. I suppose this could mean that it's doing a good job.
It is coming up for renewal again at the end of the month, and as usual the price has risen, so I've been searching for alternative packages. However the computer-speak they use is very confusing for an 83 year old so I asked my friends on Facebook for recommendations.
Most of the younger ones (grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces etc) tell me they don't have any extra protection but rely on the inbuilt Windows security already on their computers.
I've never heard of this, I didn't know I had Windows inbuilt protection, how do I find out? And if I do have it - is it reliable?
