I always do it like that anyway as all 3 keys on the German keyboard are on the left hand side. Alt gr and @ are too far apart.

I have to remember quite a few ascii codes, especially the one for the pound sign as I don't have that on my keyboard. Here on my phone I can't do one at all.

I'll have to change the keyboard setting.

tries alternative keyboard No - it's not there either. Just €$¥

Thank you, I have not encountered that problem, but very useful to know!

If you already know this, then you don't need to read on.

problem was @ not working

and the solution that I found using a combination of Google and trial and error was

use these three keys simultaneously:

ctrl, alt and the key that has @

(which key that is differs I have discovered depending on which country you are in).

Doing this re-activated alt gr which is they key I have always used in conjunction with the key that has " 2 @ on my computer,

Apparently some of Microsoft's updates de-activate the alt gr key!

Typical Microsoft and so useful (NOT).

Hope others find this helpful when trying in vain to access their e-mail accounts.
