Computer is offline - but it isn't!

Printers are a complete mystery to me - mine lies continually telling me it has no paper when the cassette is full! After about five minutes of moving the paper various ways it mostly then deigns to print.

I know this sounds absurd, but here are the facts.

A week ago my computer was offline - an update of Microsoft's causing havoc as per usual.

I sorted that issue and the next one of the computer only being willing to print PDF files!

Now whenever I send a word document to print, a window stating Computer is offline pops up. If I ignore this, the printer prints out the document perfectly a minute or so later.

Nowhere that I have checked does it state that my printer is offline, so why is this happening?

Anyone know the answer?
