Google Docs or similar instead of Word

Our Microsoft licence expires shortly, we only use Word in the Office package, now called 365, so don’t want to pay £60 a year to use it if there’s an alternative just to create the odd document. Have just been looking at Google Docs which is free to use via the web. Anyone any experience of it?

Google docs has quite a different function. It's an online document which you can share with others to have an interactive document for two or more people to use.

You CAN use it just for yourself, but I don't think you can print it off for paper copies.

Depends what you need it for really whether it would be suitable for you or not. You'd need to open a Google drive to access it.

There are free alternatives.
I have used Libre office and Open office in the past.

Thanks for the info Pittcity. I’ll look into those. I think you can print from Google Docs Gagajo. I have Google Drive so will look into that, thank you. It’s mainly DH who does the odd bits for parish council.

I'm using Libra at the moment and have used OpenOffice in the past, both seem fairly similar to Word.
