Ggrrrrrrr... those grrrrrrrrrr videos, we never used to have them. But the repetitiveness is brain washing. So much I may even have to go and make those dam scones! I'm not doing the exercises though !

I'm with Elless, no idea what you're all talking about (thank goodness!)

I just ignore them - didn't even realise they were advertising something. I thought they were just Gransnet videos for some reason!

As Juliet27 states, the ‘Adblock’ app has very efficiently dealt with them for me. It’s free and simple to install. Also cuts the ads down on Twitter!

Thank you for this! I have uploaded it and what a difference? There are some sites that have said they use Ads to run their site but you only have to agree for that site and then can carry on.
But the just reduction in seeing adverts is a much more pleasant experience when surfing the net in general.

they teach you how to make scones at school, surely grin

Why not sign up for an Adblocker. I did years ago and do not see any of these adverts.

GrandmaKT Sun 30-Apr-23 16:02:12

I had no idea what you were all talking about! AdBlock is great.

grannysyb Sun 30-Apr-23 16:15:56

I look at GN on my phone, I have adblock, so never see the ads

Luckygirl3 Sun 30-Apr-23 16:22:12

I like the before lady better than the after!

I find the awkward young man in the yoga one really uncomfortable watching.
He looks like he wishes he wasn’t there.
And when she tries to give him a sideways hug. It’s so awkward 😳

I’ve just downloaded the free Adblock App, let’s hope it works, I’m cautiously optimistic.

Watch this space

They didn't teach me and I've never made a successful scone yet!

I blame school.

Just to say - those women are Gransnetters and at least one, I know, is still posting.

Oopsadaisy1 Sun 30-Apr-23 17:59:51

It seems to have worked, thanks for the tip

fiorentina51 Sun 30-Apr-23 19:26:16

I remember now why I don't get those awful videos. I've installed Adblock.

MrsKen33 Sun 30-Apr-23 19:55:18

WellI made the scones; they were awful. And the three witches ……say no more

The fact that so many people notice them enough to know the content means the advertising campaign is working therefore they will not be stopped.

If one person had mentioned them and others had said they had not noticed maybe they would have stopped.

Has anyone bought anything because of them? If not they are not money-making. Just a big waste of space and extremely annoying.

Well, I've tried, several times.
If works on a PC, why not on a tablet?
I've gone through all the correct processes.

I installed Adblock on my Samsung tablet and it seems to have solved the problem. What sort of tablet have you got?

Luckygirl3 Sun 30-Apr-23 22:17:08

I don't think the ads have worked - I see them there but do not have the faintest clue what they are advertising!

dotpocka Sun 30-Apr-23 22:39:55

adblock is good/linux can be stalled in phones now
i dont use cell phone

Cheeseplantmad Sun 30-Apr-23 22:40:38

On iPad go to settings, then Safari , then content blockers and switch the tab , that should do the trick as it does on my iPad .

Mollygo Sun 30-Apr-23 22:52:12

Adblock mentions allowing acceptable ads to help finance companies, which is presumably why GN net uses those ads. So what will installing it achieve?

Yes, the same.

It ignores me!
I will try again tomorrow.

Plus those scones look so unhealthy, I use very little butter or sugar in my scones, whereas those are full of both. I wish you could switch the adverts off, it's makes me want to do the opposite.

BlueBelle Mon 01-May-23 03:37:37

I thought adverts veered you towards a certain product What are these supposedly advertising ? They dont appear to advertise anything !!! totally pointless

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 01-May-23 08:55:31

The free Ad Blocker has worked, I had to redo the Cookies thing on GN as well.

No more awful videos of scones, yellow iced cakes, bare faced ladies and exercises, I’m sure they will find a way around it though, eventually.
