I just ignore them - didn't even realise they were advertising something. I thought they were just Gransnet videos for some reason!

"They are doing this to us" because the people who run this free-to-us site have to be paid so Gransnet the business has to make money somehow.

I don’t even look at them. I just scroll down very quickly but they are annoying nonetheless out of the corner of my eye. I don’t see an x to switch them off.

The fact that so many people notice them enough to know the content means the advertising campaign is working therefore they will not be stopped.

If one person had mentioned them and others had said they had not noticed maybe they would have stopped.

They are particularly annoying when they cover where you are trying to type. I cannot understand why they are doing this to us!

As Juliet27 states, the ‘Adblock’ app has very efficiently dealt with them for me. It’s free and simple to install. Also cuts the ads down on Twitter!

I click on the x as soon as they appear. We appear to be stuck with the irritating things.

How do you turn them off? I can’t find a way.

There is a little ad playing in the corner that I can turn off but I have the big one between posts.

I always click the videos off straight away, I don't really register what they are about.

I've just realised that I've stopped getting those awful videos on my Samsung tablet. What a relief.

I don’t get the purpose of these. The scones and the sticky yellow icing aren’t advertising anything!
I wonder if they are a trial and they are hoping to get advertisers for these spaces. Well, if that’s the case, all they have proved is how annoying we find them so any advertisers will only garner negative publicity.

I get them in my iPad , it’s a pain.

Agreed. I dont mind the static adverts as we all know the site needs to make money somehow but please, for the love of god, get rid of the endless, repetitive videos!

Not to mention the 2 relatively glam women - with the poor sad ones who’ve been given a makeover. Just a slightly more flattering hairstyle, a smile, and a more flattering skin tone.
I’ve seen more than enough of those, too!

We have complained endlessly to GN and they flatly refuse to remove these obnoxious intrusions; I think they are getting larger whilst the number of posts seems to be shrinking.

Don’t think many of us are going to be influenced by them either - they are just extremely irritating - change the record, GN & your advertisers - these are so repetitively boring and dull.
We don’t need them and don’t want them, so get rid please, permanently. GN used to run perfectly well before, so why have them now?
