I have a laptop (not apple mac) on which there are loads of things.

I am looking at finding a device that is smaller and lighter so that I can take it to meetings and refer to or add to/change the documents on there. I cannot carry the laptop because of my back problems.

I also want to use a graphics programme with a pen to do art.

I had assumed that I needed to be looking for an ipad, but am now wondering whether this is not so, as my laptop with all the stuff on it is not a mac.

Help!! - I not at all au fait with all this tablet stuff!

Hello, you may want to consider the Galaxy Tab S8 which is a great device, large screen and is light in the hand. You can purchase an optional Pen with it which will aid with doing some art on it. Battery life on it is very good as well. Hunt around online for a deal, but this is the one I'm referring too:

I have a subscription to Microsoft and can store documents on One Drive as well as Apple iCloud and locally on my iPad. I also have an Android phone which I use with the iPad.

I have a Microsoft Surface Pro, with keypad/cover and love it. It’s very light, certainly no heavier than my previous iPad, although it is larger (but equally thin). Great battery life, decent specs.

I don’t have a laptop or other computer, I just connect the Surface Pro to a large screen (and mouse and keyboard) when I need more detail. ThT does need an adaptor though (about a tenner in any computer shop or Amazon).

All my documents, photos etc are stored on One Drive, so I can access them from anywhere. I pay for a family One Drive, which is 5 licences, and has shedloads of storage for each, as well as all the usual office tools, regularly updated security, various apps etc.

If I had an Android phone, it’d sync with that too.

There is also a Surface Go, which is a little smaller, cheaper, and possibly a couple of grams lighter. It doesn’t have as good technical specs, although the Go4, due this summer, will be improved in that respect.
