MissedOut.You are correct. I went into bin and read it again. I had seen it and having received scams before and in fact the apple shop warned me about them I looked on Google and there are several reports saying that apple were worried about an email scam that led people to believe that the best way not to lose your photos because of the change was to follow a procedure that would need you to go into something and change your payment card. One said the unlucky people who pressed something would give the scammers access to your credit information. That is why I didn’t read it through. I have looked since and I appear to have all my thousands of photos and screen shots already in the library. In fact I no longer have a photo stream in the list of options. I pay for extra storage on iCloud (79p a month) and I already have iCloud Photos on iPad and iPhone. They appear to be synched to my Mac as well as they update automatically thoughI will have a look at that.

I opened the link that Saxifrage provided to check that I had received the same e-mail. I have been going through my Photostream photos, ensuring that they are safely stored - I don't want to lose some of them because Apple are ceasing a legacy service.
I can't see any way that this is a scam.

Might be that the scammers are piggy backing apple’s email. I am no good at these links. Google have several reports if you care to look them up. I will go into Apple next week as now confused.

Having read it I googled it and there was a post saying apple were concerned about it. It also explained what happened as you went through the suggested process. I quickly deleted it. I will see if I can find it again and if so send a link.

Email says it is closing down your photo stream. Wants you to panic and change the way you subscribe.
