Newquay Gransnet is absolutely wonderful and the people on here are so very kind. I haven’t used Zoom but there will be so many on here who have, I would suggest you ask again by going into forums and then into technology and then start a new question. Good luck.

Isn’t Gransnet brilliant!!
Now. . .I’ve successfully been using zoom for a long time now. These days I use it for my French Zoom group and, when we started to zoom cos of covid we were joined by a couple of French nationals some of us know so we don’t want to lose them now and we’re choosing to carry on zooming instead of meeting up in person again.
My problem is, suddenly, on my laptop I can see and hear the others and they can hear me but I can’t be seen. It is SO frustrating! I’ve tried everything.
The camera light is on.
I resort to using my mobile which means I can only see one person at a time and any articles we screen share are very small.
Any ideas? I have thought of deleting zoom and reinstalling it?

Thank you Patsyanna. That is brilliant. I had been touching the wrong three dots(the ones on the right hand in a circle. Suddenly saw them and lo and behold there were the options. Thank you.

Press 3 grey dots at top of screen, in centre.
Drop-down give you choice if full screen, Split View, slide over or close

Have you tried turning the iPad off , not just closing ? When you turn it back on it should have reset

Nandalot, thank you but no it is a single line with no dark area to it.

North Face., when I go into settings and find screen and multi tasking all I can see is - “use large Apple icons” and where we want apps to show on screen or dock. Nothing allowing turning off multi tasking. I am running iOS 16.5.1. When I try pulling the bar to one side it refuses to stay there. It is a split screen but the screen doesn’t show enough to work on as it is so narrow
SueDonmin even double tapping and swiping still brings it back next time I go back into it. Thank you both for answering.

When I get a split screen, there is a slightly darker section of the line dividing the two screens, about a 3/4 of an inch long. I use that to slide the screen I don’t want to right or left as appropriate. Do you have that?

SueDonim Thu 29-Jun-23 21:05:51

I wish I knew! It happens to me as well. I think I inadvertently cause it by holding down something in error or touching the bar you type in accidentally.

The only way I can get rid of it is to double click on the home button then swipe up to get rid of all the open pages. You lose all your tabs then which is annoying but not as annoying as the split screen.

This sounds like multitasking.

Do you have a black line dividing the apps?

You should be able to slide it left or right to close the unwanted app.

If the app is floating you should be able to tap the top and slide it down.

You can turn off multitasking in Settings, Home Screen and Dock, Multitasking, Turn off allow multiple apps.

Does that fix it?

Would be grateful if anyone can solve the problem as suddenly the screen splits into a narrow screen showing what you have switched to. This happens on emails and surveys for example are impossible. Looked on utube and there is no help. I have held the double screen sign at the bottom and there is only a list of tabs to open. None have any effect. I touch the three grey buttons on the top and it only offer customise and tool box neither help. I go into settings to Home Screen and dock and there isn’t a toggle to toggle anything relating to split screen. I am on 16.6. Help please.
