Amazon password problems

All sorted, I had to go to Dads and get him to give permission for them to speak to me, but I have to say they were brilliant.

Thanks for all the advice so far. I have tried all of these - outlook won’t revive the account so any attempt to reset his Amazon password is just pinging back to them. They’re being less than helpful. Might try phoning them again and my DH pretending to be my dad.

If his device supports facial recognition you could bypass the necessity for a password for authentication.

Reactivate email using original details then log in to Amazon with his original email and click on 'forgot password'. You should then receive a code either by email/SMS to the registered mobile to reset password. Just follow onscreen prompt from there.

Can’t you just pretend that another man is your dad?
For some reason I’m not on one of our accounts so when I ring with a problem I always do it when DH is around. They have no idea who they are talking to.
I speak to them then pass the phone to him, he gives permission for them to talk to me and then passes the phone back.

Usually they will let you reset a password. Use his email address or phone contact number but not yours. Just go to the Amazon webpage where it says to login.

Can you resurrect his old email account? It should still be there somewhere, and they will or should be able to send you a link., hopefully Marydoll will pop up, she I’ll surely know what to do, maybe send her a PM?

I don’t know if any of you can help with this but here goes!

My dad (81) has vascular dementia. Somehow he’s managed to change his Amazon password and can’t remember what it is. He’s also managed to do a factory reset on his kindle fire. The outlook email address linked to his Amazon account no longer exists as he hasn’t ‘used’ it in over five years. I could re- register his kindle with a new address but he would lose all of the books he’s purchased over the years and his Amazon prime which he’s recently paid for the year, and the money he received in gift cards for a recent birthday.

Amazon won’t talk to me as I’m not the account holder (I understand that they need to be careful with data protection, scamming etc). My dad can’t talk to them and understand what he’s being told.

I’m stuck and don’t know how to help - any advice?
