May I please slip in a question here re induction hobs - it is very difficult on mine to get a simmer - it keeps going off the boil and then coming back to boil/simmer. Anyone else have this issue?

And boy have a learnt not to walk away even for 30 seconds - I'm forever having to rescue food from burning.

I have an AEG induction hob with 4 high power zones. We had to have a dedicated power cable installed as the output was too high for normal wiring. You should check first.

I use a single ring tefal induction hob (£65) alongside the aged gas aga running at about half its usual temperature and it has been a great pairing for ten and a half happy months and our bills have been greatly reduced. A

Then the induction hob went 'bang', tripped the electrics and has gone back to John Lewis for repair. Apparently tefal kit can be repaired. Missing it badly.

I was advised not to have the hob set in to the work surface but to have it resting on top just in case we needed to replace the hob before we wanted to replace the work top. I hope this makes sense.

Vintagegirl if you look in Ask a Gran there's a recent thread about induction hobs. There are 48 posts on there which you might find useful.

I just love mine, so reliable and easy to clean. I'd never go back to a fiddly gas hob now - so go for it!

If you or anyone else who will use your hob has a pacemaker, you should not have an induction hob.
Other than that they're great so, if you can, go for it!
