…done over the phone!

The adult children of a neighbour who was scammed out of a lot of money (all don’t over the phone by such ‘nice’ people!) put some ‘trusted numbers only’ restriction on her phone, but it was the landline she used - I don’t know whether it’s possible with mobiles - I should imagine not.

One thing I’ve often seen recommended, is to scratch off the security number on any bank or credit card, so they can’t give that out over the phone, or use it online, but it’d still be fine in shops, cash machines, etc.

Hi,

My mum keeps getting calls from what can only be described as spamming scammers who claim to be from her mobile company. She doesn't actually have one, I manage that for her. She has managed to get defrauded twice already and just today, she narrowly avoided it again. She's a bit forgetful. Has anyone else experienced trying to convince a parent that they shouldn't give out any info to just anybody over the phone? I can't monitor her every call and I've already put card controls on her bank account.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
