I need to set my Google calendar to use Google maps as the default when I add a location to a calendar entry. It used to do this, but now defaults to Google earth, which drives me nuts.

All the help pages I've found do not correspond to what happens when I follow the instructions.

I have a Samsung S21

I found these instructions for you, let me know if they work? smile

To set Google Maps as the default for location links in Google Calendar on your Android phone, follow these steps:

1. Open the Google Calendar app on your Android device.
2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner.
3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
4. Tap on "General"
5. Look for the "Default apps" section.
6. Tap on "Default app for location links"
7. Choose "Google Maps" from the list of available apps.

This should set Google Maps as the default app for location links in Google Calendar. If you don't see this option, make sure your Google Calendar app is up to date, as this feature might be available in newer versions.

If you encounter any issues, you might need to ensure that Google Calendar is set as the default calendar app on your device. Here's how you can do that:

1. Open the Google Calendar app on your Samsung S21.
2. Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner.
3. Select "Settings" from the menu.
4. Tap on "General".
5. Look for the "Default apps" section.
6. Tap on "Default app for location links".
7. Choose "Google Maps"** from the list of available apps.

If you still face issues, you might need to clear the default settings for other calendar apps:

1. Go to your phone's Settings.
2. Find "Apps"
3. Select "Calendar" (or any other calendar app that might be set as default).
4. Tap on "Set as default".
5. Select "Clear default".

After clearing the default settings, try setting Google Maps as the default app again in Google Calendar.
