Copilot?

You can uninstall the Co- pilot App but I had to get my younger family member to do it. It was driving me insane. Apparently, there is a massive drive towards AI right now. Be careful you do not uninstall Microsoft 365 Co- pilot though, or you will lose Word and Office. It's an utter pain. My subscription to Microsoft has also jumped in price by £25 per year. These compamies are taking the p!$$.

Currently looking at an AI picture of the Vikings, courtesy of DS. It includes a strange medieval boat-cum-horse, big enough for 10 vikings at most, being ridden on land and looking like a Viking version of a rocking horse.

Despite the many casualties on the ground, there is not a sword in sight. The main weapon seems to be a long pointed stick like a bean stick. and the undetailed massed hordes seem to be far too many for the amount of space for them.

I hate it.

I work for some of the year supervising Masters students and most of them are not English. I understand their wanting to ensure that their work is as well worded as possible, but honestly, I can tell when something is written using AI but struggle to prove it.

Personally I use Microsoft 365, and it's bundled. It is there like that awful paperclip used to be, asking if I need help with this or that. No. Mostly I use Word for writing original work, so AI is really not for me - it will see people in my profession off one day soon. Stop Forcing It On Me.

Now they are charging an extra £3 a month to keep the blasted thing. There seems to be no option to ask for the old system (ie without it but £3 cheaper), and disabling it is difficult.

The trouble is that if I go to the Apple equivalent (Pages and other Office-type applications) I would lose the millions of documents I have saved. It's a dilemma.

Copilot is AI and make sure, if you use it, to double check everything it says.

DS is an academic and he is amusing himself these days by asking another of the AI packages for information on various historical events like the Vikings, plus putting some First year undergraduate essays into it.

The results, so far, are not impressive. In one essay it referenceed him as having written articles and books he has never seen or heard of, still less written

I tried googling, but none of the suggestions worked.

If you Google "How to get rid of Copilot" there are instructions on either disabling it or removing it all together. There are written instructions are some videos. I haven't tried any of them myself as I've actually found it useful and been lucky the information has been accurate but can fully understand that in some situations it could be confusing. Good luck.x
