Windows 10 v Windows 11

Yes, the Address List being on a spreadsheet instead of in Contacts is still a pain. I had to edit mine as every email address that had ever entered my pc or left it over the years was listed on this excel spreadsheet!
To start with the email programme didn’t speak to the address list either. But I’m getting there. I think it’s better to move with the times and get Windows 11.

I prefered Windows XP to either 10 or 11, which are very similar to each other and seem to have been designed to make simple tasks difficult. The hoops I have to jump through now, just to delete an unwanted file! They have also ruined Media Player and the nice, simple Outlook Express has been disappeared.

I used hate these changes, but going from 10 to 11 was very easy. The only problem I had was how to shut down. It took me three days to find out how to close properly. Otherwise, there's very little difference between them.

We were forced to change to Windows 11 and I had to get a new computer, DH didn’t.

I found it so different at first and resented having to learn in a new way. Such as all the email addresses of my friends etc vanished. We eventually found a symbol top left of screen that still had our contacts but it was presented in a different way.

There are a few pluses. It automatically downloads all your incoming mail. So there is not such a thing as Send/receive.

It’s a lot faster.

If you are insure of the spelling of a word put your cursor on it and left click and the correct spelling occurs.

I hope Windows 11 lasts me out. I can’t go through all this new learning again.

I do know it depends on the age of your laptop - you can do a Microsoft PC Health Check and it will tell you if yours is compatible.

As I understand it, a laptop less than about 5 years old should be ok for the swap.

Yes that's what I've been told by a man that has his own computer business Marydoll.
In my case, a new laptop.

We are using Windows 10 at the moment, but according to the IT guru DS2, if we change to Windows 11 we will both need new PCs. An expensive business.
