I know one person who uses it in his job.

I know 2 people[in the creative industries] who are concerned about the potential AI impact on their current jobs.

How is AI currently impacting upon people you know?

DS is an academic. So far his experience of AI is that it is not that good. He got it to write a sample journal article for him. It was inaccurate and the information included was out of date and most of its references were fake. The references included articles and books he had never written and did not exist.

DD works in cyber security in banking and it is what her job is all about.

Neither sees AI as a threat to their job security

I might add. that in the past developments like computers, the internet etc have killed some jobs but actually produced more new job opportunities than they kill.

One family member looking to change profession. Young family members thinking about which university courses to choose that are unlikely to be affected by AI, or at least would not make the whole degree redundant.

I was looking for someone online. The AI answer had conflated information about two people with the same name but different backgrounds and experience, so that it appeared that they were one and the same. There should have been enough information available for AI to differentiate. It's likely that a human would have been confused but realised that the facts didn't fit.

My son works in an environment where AI is used by big businesses to break down data analytics - it’s a steep learning curve for him, but he’s finding it interesting.

Indeed and I think on the whole AI could be very positive.

My son uses it to "tone down" or "firm up" info/letters he's already written to clients.
He says it works for him.

But of course it's working from his own previous letters or instructions.
