Any recommendations for a new laptop which is reliable and of good quality. Mostly used for emails, online shopping, search engines, banking etc. Thanks.

I gave up my laptop for a tablet, easier to handle, sorry that’s not much help, just wondered if you had considered it?

Acer Chromebook Plus. Reliable, easy to use, excellent battery.

I got a Lenovo recently (from JL) mainly as both my Son and SiL both have them for work. Both are involved in IT and these appear to be Laptop's that are recommended by the company and by them.
Mine is a nice slim blue one, but note all new Laptop now come with Windows 11, bit of a new learning curve.
Go to John Lewis if you can, the team in there are always good at finding you something suitable for your needs.

I also need a new laptop. Lots seems too whizzy, with features I will never need, or use e.g video, gaming etc. I think a tablet might be better for me ?

My laptop was past repair and I called no 1GS to help, old grannie needs new laptop.
No he says, darling grannie needs chuck old laptop in bin and have my old iPad, is that the same as a tablet ?
I don’t know, I just know Heaven opened that day, I was handed this object, it fitted in my hand, I was told to choose a four number pass code, was given a fifteen minutes lesson on using same object and told to get on with it.
That was 8 years ago, I was like a child with a new toy, I was enthralled, I fell totally snd completely in love with it and when last year it failed to respond to my instructions I cried.
I now have a new one, with many more very interesting and fascinating items added and almost feel the same about it.
Forget the lap top, the way forward is iPad, I still don’t know if it’s also a tablet I just know I bless my beloved GS who had many cries for help and I get on with it.
I’m 88 now and I’m hoping this one will be with me to the end, I’ve instructed DD it’s to go in my coffin along with my original one well I couldn’t throw it away, it was too precious 😍

I bought a new Samsung tablet recently with a 10 inch screen.
So much quicker and better than my old one and easy to use .
