This was recently installed as default by edge and taking my time, watching a youtube video slowly. I did it, Bing has gone and suddenly my laptop is faster too

Bing clogged my searching bigtime. Hated it

Idiot question I know, but having problems with a particular web site loading. How do I get rid of Bing please.

I found Yahoo kept taking over as the default search engine even though I kept deleting it!

Duck Duck Go is slow too

I've never had a problem with Bing slowing things down on my laptop, and I've helped to raise quite a bit for one of my animal charities through their rewards feature.

I don’t like bing, either. It seems to bring in a lot of irrelevant stuff and miss out other things I want. Prefer Chrome.

I use Duck Duck Go and don't have a problem loading anything unless broadband is a bit slow locally - which happens occasionally.

I didn't like Bing either, I was perfectly happy with Chrome but hate the new AI listing that comes at the top of searches.

If you want to use a particular search engine, go into your settings and make your chosen search internet your preference. You can also usually import any bookmarks too.

Trouble is that Edge will keep re-loading Bing because of the rivalry between Microsoft and Google, so even if you save chrome as your default search engine, it will change if you use Microsoft edge as your browser. My virus protector persistently changes my default search engine to yahoo. I find it infuriating.

Karmalady, you are a star! That has been my ambition for a long time. Beware though, it creeps back in. I feel ot it is a virus more than a search engine. Otherwise it would appear on the lists of apps and it would be easy to delete it.
I prefer only Firefox but some programmes wont work on it (MS interference I suspect.) so I am forced to use Edge.
Karmalady, can you point me towards the You Tube video you used please?

Never used it. It's rubbish.

I would not use Edge. Full of bloatware as it’s called. Firefox, Vivaldi or even safari are better. I still use google to search. I have never found anything better.

Also you need to disable Edge, otherwise it will keep re installing it.
