McAfee virus

If you buy an additional anti virus programme, which I have done, it seems your MSN defender switches itself off. (I didn't know that but I bought one anyway). I' e been running scans every day.
I'm reluctant to throw any more money at this thing.
BUT
Today, so far (its about 10 past one in the afternoon) I haven't seen any pop-ups!). The computer is very slow ...... do you think I dare hope ..... ?
I can live with slow!!

are you sure your anti-virus programme is working? It should sort these out. Try forcing it to run a scan again. Sometimes you have to buy an add on to block pop ups and if you force a scan it should tell you.

I give up.
Its almost impossible to use this tablet as when these pop-ups actually pop up they cover about a third of the screen and I can't see what I'm typing.

Tell me, if I buy a new tablet/ipad, when the details from this one are transferred across (email addresses, contacts etc, will the issues and trojans and other nasties be transferred to the new machine too?

Scroll about half way down the page to Turn On Built-In Pop-Up Blocking in Popular Browsers to see if there is anything there that works.

I fell down almost right away because there isn't an option of 'notifications and permissions' on the Settings page.
I looked for any similar wordings, but can find nothing.
I did try 'add remove programs' but can see no unfamiliar files to remove.
I appreciate the wording may be slightly different but it seems the Settings isn't the same on all computers.
My tablet is 6 years old

I have an anti virus programme and also Microsoft Defender which I have run. I was advised to install the free version of Malwarebytes. I ran their scans but everything remains the same.
I'll try what you suggest Graphite thank you. Its beginning to look as if I need to contact a professional.

You need to buy an anti virus programme - not via the ads! Will cost about £20 a year but worth it.

This sounds like a fake notification, the permission for which you have given inadvertently when visiting a website.

Try this. It might work.

Go to Google Settings.

Select Privacy and Security.

Scroll down to select Site Settings and then Notifications and Permissions.

Locate where is says Allowed to Send Notifications. Can you see some odd file names? Remove those.

You can also switch on Don’t Allow Sites to Send Notifications to stop this happening again.

I realise its a scam, so I can't see how an advert blocker can delete it - but I'll try .....

ExDancer try looking online and installing Adblock it will remove these types of ads along with any others.

What do I do?
I've run Microsoft defender and also my security programme (I've forgotten what its called) but it still pops up and I can hardly use my computer.
Can you help?
