A couple of weeks ago I had an email telling me that I would be given "early access" to Alexa Plus free of charge for a certain time, after which I could opt out and revert to the usual Alexa, or pay a small fortune to maintain the new system
I ignored the email, new Alexa Plus kicked in undervalued a few days ago - and what a shambles! The new voice is flat and miserable, AND mispronounces the town where I live. I struggle to make myself understood for the simplest requests, such as playing a radio station or asking for the local weather forecast. Setting a timer and trying to cancel it was the last straw, so today I have asked Alexa to revert to her usual self and delete this useless new identity...but I'm now wondering how long I've got till an enforced payment comes in or I lose the features altogether?

Unheralded, not undervalued. Predictive text!!! 🤭

Is this the new Alexa contraption being advertised where she suggests to a dreadful man that she plays music so he can have a swearing rant in his kitchen to get it out of his system before his sister arrives?

It’s become my most annoying tv ad.

Just grumbling about a lack of organisation in my DD when Alexa pipes up, unbidden, that she can help me with organisation tips etc.

The very same, Georgesgran!
I'm not sure what I've done to be picked for the early access, but don't recommend it

You have to be canny to get rid of this persistent bit of plugging from amazon - it is a pain.

The only asset that I can see of Alexa Plus is that you can make phone calls and send emails from voice commands.
