Has anyone used Leger for a holiday abroad? DH picked up a brochure from the travel agent and some of their holidays look very interesting as well as being quite reasonable. I'd love to hear if anyone has had any experience of them - good or bad! smile

Sorry you haven`t had an answer on here nannym, I was going to be interested in what was said. I`m curious about these sorts of holidays as well.

Never mind! I might try putting it under the Chat topic and see if I can get a reply.Or maybe just book one of the three day trips - if it's awful then at least I'll know not to book a long one wink

I've been on 3 Leger Singles Coach Holidays [Silver Service] on my own. There are two aspects, firstly, how the holiday is run and secondly, who's on the coach, obviously the latter is down to luck.

On the the type of holiday I chose it was door to door so I didn't have to carry my luggage at all.

I went to Rovinj, Croatia with a wonderful crowd, the day trips were great, Roman ruins, cheap markets, the only disadvantage was an overnight both ways on the coach. The resort hotel had good facilities and buffet menus.

Next, the Italian Dolomites, overnights en route in an excellent hotel, then beautiful scenery en route. The resort hotel was family run with a limited but adequate menu. Great daytrips again, including Venice and Lake Garda. A more cliquey crowd, but I palled up with two very likeable people.

This year I did Spectacular Spain,[overnights great hotel] day trips to beautiful places but not a good crowd, worse a couple of really gruesome men came onto me, and coach holidays do force you into spending a lot of time with the same people. The resort hotel buffet was somewhat variable as was the attitude of some of the staff.

The drivers are generally helpful and mostly very affable. The holidays are tiring because of the time spent travelling there and back and on day trips.

On the whole, I would recommend them, I hope my experiences clarify your thoughts.

We use leger coaches for conducted tours of battlefields of WW1. We have always had a great tour with them. Their tour guides are all very knowledgable about the subject of WW1 We have met some really nice people and visited different areas of belgium and france. We have found the drivers to be friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend this company.

We came back from WW1 Battlefield - northern France - a couple of weeks ago courtesy of Leger and I would certainly recommend them. I also found the drivers helpful and friendly. The pickup and transfers were a doddle. Everything planned really well - and with a smile.

Because several people had personal reasons for going, our guide made a special effort to visit these particular cemeteries as they were not too far out of our way, although not on our itinerary and nobody minded. He even took pictures of their visit for them. It was lovely to have such an understanding guide. It made the visit very special.

As mentioned previously I'm exhausted after looking after my toddler grandson off and on for two years and I now have a miserable cold/sore throat. So my lovely, lovely husband decided that I MUST have a holiday as soon as possible and today I've booked to go the Dolomites on a single traveller coach tour - in less than two weeks from now!!! I am really looking forward to being on my own and not having to consider anyone else's needs. I am soooo excited I had to share it with you. grin grin grin

My father gave us some money many years ago when we were flat broke and DH had been ill and we used it for a Leger holiday to Prague, Budapest and Vienna. DH had lived abroad throughout his childhood so travel was nothing new, but this was a relatively cheap way to see the 3 cities. We were a bit dubious, thinking it would be full of "oldies" (!!!!) but actually had a whale of a time! We were very lucky with friends we made, but honestly, the "oldies" could show us a thing or two when it came to sightseeing stamina.
I enjoyed it and could not fault the company or the service we were given!

GA thanks I think it's a great morale booster to have something to look forward to especially when you are feeling down. What a lovely man Mr. GA is.

So pleased for you GA. Nobody deserves a break more than you do and the mountain air will blow away your viruses and leave you invigorated to return to the fray! Have a wonderful time. thanks

We went on Leger trip to Switzerland, deliberately choosing one that was based at a lakeside as we are not greatly into lots of trips and wanted to be somewhere where we could choose to go walking on our own. It worked out fine - we did go on a couple of the trips too.

My only reservation was the length of time that the sole driver was behind the wheel. This was a few years ago, so there may be new regulations in place about that.

How lovely for you GA, your hubby sounds like a lovely man. We`ve considered coach holidays, but in Britain as our passports have expired now, my only worry is getting on and off, I`m not very agile, and high steps are an impossibility for me now.

Glad to see good reviews for Legers, we have just booked Christmas markets coach tour to Holland and Germany for middle of December, really looking forward to it, never done this type of holiday before. Think I might enjoy having everything organised for me!

Loved it! Was a great holiday and yes I really enjoyed being transported from place to place. Christmas markets have got me in the Christmas spirit, despite big boys being miles away ( long story) We will definitely consider going on another coach holiday.
