Did you travel over the holidays to vacation or visit family? Where did you go? Was it relaxing or do you need a holiday to recover from your holiday?

Just come back from visiting daughter and partner in Tenerife - wonderful weather, wonderful Island (as soon as you get away from the hyper touristy Los Christianos/Las Americas) - almond trees in flower, camassia, echium, wild flowers everywhere, the volcanoe area, boat trips to see dolphins and whales, botanical gardens, pyramids, old fishing ports and farming villages. Loved it.

Great too NOT to be staying with daughter- so that we could see lots of each other without being 'on top of them'.

What do you mean by the holidays, Mercedes Yang? To me holidays mean going on holiday unless we are talking school holidays in which case it used to be catching up with all the domestic stuff which had accumulated over the year. Or do you mean Christmas and New Year?

I stayed put in the holiday season, as I have done ever since my mother died - before that I always went there on Christmas day. I don't trust winter conditions not to bugger up any plans!

In fact, I just ignore the whole thing.

Oh, Granjura, it sounds a great to have such a wonderful holiday with your family, thanks for sharing with me here, I am hesitate about where to go on the New year's vacation, and i made my determination to spend the holiday with my family too, thanks again!

Aha, Glassortwo, renovating your house sounds!! Every time I am with my family, I would do cleaning with them, it is trivial but of much meaning! smile

I mean a relatively long vacation such as days accumulated for New Year, cause I haven't have much time to other places due to the tightened calender, a relative long holiday might be a good choose to relax myself, thus wanna some advice, then I got my advice here, I would go home with my family like granjura mentioned. smile

feetlebaum, it meaningful to commemorate the past time by staying put in the holiday season, that would be a nice season, too. Hope everything would be of great fun! smile

Well last year we went to Iceland in February. The most exhilarating and enjoyable experience we had while there was visiting the large outdoor thermal pool where your body was in water the temperature of a hot bath and your head was in the cold. On one visit it was snowing!!

We went for four days and also managed to see geysers, glaciers and volcanos. We found we returned from this short break exhilerated and rested

Oh, FlicketyB, I have heard about Iceland, your holiday are so exhilarating!!!
I have ever had myself hot bath in larger outdoor thermal, but without a snowing outside, I am in subtropical with a very hot sun hanging on our head then in summer! Guess we had an opposite situation! Well, anyway, the experience is really full of much fun, aren't we? smile
