I recently returned from a trip to Turkey. A cheap and cheerful bus tour of people (mostly) of more mature years..never done one before but we saw so many interesting places overall we felt we had value for our money! I kept looking at my fellow travelers and wondering if any were on GN! Were you there?

Turkey I think. Isn't it that place with carved out early churches. Looks a bit like a weird landscape?

Hi nanaej,
Although not on this bus trip (sounds great who did you go with?) I too have visited Cappodicia and found it absolutely fascinating. Did you get to see the Dervish dancing and go down an underground city and visit the rock churches with the fresco of St George and the Dragon - lloed like a snake to

Absent - Cappadocia is in the centre of Turkey. I'm sorry but don't know how to make a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cappadocia.

Hope you had a great time anyway.

Yes in Turkey! It was a fascinating tour. The landscape is amazing..I will post some photos! Yes went to underground cities, cave houses, Whirling Dervish monestary plus loads of Roman remains too. Also had a balloon ride..great fun! We were there for a week and it worked out at £53 pp per day for flights/coach travel/guide/BB lunch & evening meal and entrance to the varous museums etc. We did have to endure trips to carpet, jewellery & leather factories and resist the charming sales people! Apparently part of the costs were subsidised by the Turkish government to get tourists in to 'circulate' money in the winter season and factory visits are the payback for the subsidy!

Photo edit facility is not working properly so I cannot put captions on the pics!

Yes it is the place I thought it was. I'm glad as my. Geography is nonexistent. I went to Egypt in my twenties and didn't know where I was until I returned and looked it up.
I still get confused with Libya, Algeria. Liberia, etc.
I know where Afghanistan is , I think, but as for all the gulf states.
On quizzes I'm hopeless on geography, politics and pop music!
